Lead singer changes

I can never listen to bands after they switch lead singers. I can only think of a few exceptions. I liked the Pennywise album where they had the lead singer from Ignite singing. Maybe that's just because I was already a fan of Ignite and Pennywise was pretty stale (as they have once again become now that Jims back). Even in that case, I'd rather go see the original lineup sing songs from albums I view as classics.

I mentioned Sublime with Rome in another thread. Fuck that. Alice in Chains with what's his face? Go to hell! Black Sabbath with Dio? No sir. Don't try to fool me by changing the name, Audioslave. You're not fooling me! Get off my lawn!

*note: this only pertains to bands who changed singers after they've become famous and/or have a decent catalogue

Having said that, I'd rather listen to Papa Roach than GG Allin

Was gonna say Black Flag until I read the last part. I can't think of any band I listen to after this happened.

Fuck the new Germs without Darby Crash and Dead Kennedys with Jeff Penalty. Speaking of which, this song is great and is about pretty much what we're getting at in this thread here:

I forget if the first or second 10 Foot Pool singer was the better one.

The first. Scott was better. He went on to form Pulley who I prefer to 10 foot pole, though 10 foot pole were good with Scott. He played Major League Baseball

Henry Rollins ruined Black Flag. They were a good, fun band until he joined them.

I can't think of any other bands where they change singers or at least not any bands that I like.

What about garbage person Michael Graves's stint as Misfits vocalist

You know what was really messed up, was when the Beatles replaces Paul McCartney with Paul McCartney

I see Rollins black flag as a different band almost. I love it all. my war and slip it in are sludgy, stoner punk masterpieces.. slowing it down, growing out their hair.. they were always punker than punk

I loved the First Four Years compilation and then I got Slip It In. I liked how it was almost minimalist metal as far as the instrumentation but Rollins singing on it was awful. I like Rollins when he just talks and rants about things though, he is so hilarious with some of his stories.

The only Black Flag I listen to these days is First Four Years.  In fact, now that I'm thinking of it, the only Black Flag I've ever listened to regularly is First Four Years.  Rollins ruined Black Flag.  Damaged is often regarded as the best Black Flag album but if you look at the song credits, Rollins didn't write any of them.

I dunno, I kinda like that Dennis guy; he has a weird distinctive voice. Always thought the Pulley guy was a fine singer but kinda bland.

I think Sammy Hagar is the best Van Halen frontman.  Does that count?

BlakeK

It does! I preferred Hagar to Roth but mostly because my dad was a big Sammy Hagar fan. I still don't care for Roth's voice and would choose Hagar.
