ABCs of Death 2 segments that weren't awful fuckin' garbage:

D is for Deloused (Robert Morgan)
W is for Wish (Steven Kostanski)
X is for Xylophone (Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo)
Z is for Zygote (Chris Nash)

The awfullest of garbage:

L is for Legacy (Lancelot Imasuen)
P is for P-P-P-P SCARY! (Todd Rohal)
S is for Split (Juan Martinez Moreno) (technically well made but the "twist" is offensively bad)
T is for Torture Porn (Jen and Sylvia Soska)

The rest is mostly unmemorable dreck.

Watching Dead Girl. It's a very disturbing concept. Like really really.
What did you end up thinking of this? It's definitely a morbid premise, but I think it's really well executed.

Jaybird

It's weird because all throughout the movie I was like "I'm not sure there's any way I see myself coming out of this movie liking it/ not taking issue with it"

then it ended and both those things were true.  It was well executed maybe even meaningful in the end?

I'm watching Sushi Girl now and The Woman later.

brett, did you check out you're next? it was so nice to see a slasher film in the 90s style come out recently and not be totally awful... even though i enjoy totally awful slashers.

I've seen over 33 of the ones you listed. I also have been collecting and watching horror movies for 15 years. Last I counted I have at least 2,000 of them. But yeah, my opinion is stupid.

seriously, have you seen Monsters? you can't get a better, well written, sci-fi horror that's actually a character piece filmed in cinema verite style and so honest and true to its characters

AaronTheCabe

my point manmagic, is while i haven't enjoyed the larger amount of post-1995 movies, i have to agree with brett that that is kinda an insane generalization to make. so i want you to see the good post 1995 films. watch monsters, take two aspirins, and get back to me in the morning. smoke me a kipper, i'll be back for breakfast...oh that shouyld now be my sig

AaronTheCabe

weird question...i want to watch possession... but how do i do so without buying it or torrenting it? it just occured to me that there is no such thing as video rental anymore. redbox is only new movies.... what happens when you want to rent an old movie. is torrents the only way?
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back breakfast

Anna Karina

I'm willing to bet there are no rental stores/streaming sites that have the Mondo-Vision remaster of it, and the old copies look like complete shit so even if you did find those copies I wouldn't recommend them. Torrent or buying is probably the only way.

I did not expect this to be as insane and entertaining as it was. One of the best surprises of the month so far.

AaronTheCabe

Brian Yusna classic if i remember correctly. I really liked that movie, first saw it at an age way too young probably, around ten.

I just got done watching  Pumpkin Head and forgot how awesome that monster/creature/demon was. Guy who did effects in Alien i think designed it

Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back breakfast

The Loved Ones and Angst are the only movies on the list I had seen before this month, aside from scattered scenes here and there for some others.

I kinda really hope the new season of Twin Peaks is based more on Fire Walk With Me than the TV show. So much creepier and also David Bowie.

1. Let The Right One In (2008)

While I think Irreversible isn't horror film(but a fantastic one) I just want to say yesyesyesyesyesyesyes to Let The Right One In,

Night of the Hunter is easily one of the best films ever made. It's a 5/5 for sure as far as I'm concerned.

Brett, what would you list as your top ten bad-in-a-good-way horror films?  Or fifty, or whatever.  I'm not your dad.

I'm not Brett but here's mine
1. I bought a vampire motorcycle
2. Psycho Pike
3. The Stuff
4. Troll 2
5. Woodchipper Massacre
6. Bad Taste
7. Teen Alien
8. Bloodsuckers from Outer Space
9. Octaman
10. Attack of the Beast Creatures

Still not sure I could pick even 10 horror movies after the year 2000 I enjoy, but I could maybe do a top 5 if I thought about it really hard.

I watched Oculus last night. It was alright. First half was good, second half kind of dragged on.

Off the top of my head...

Rock n' Roll Nightmare
Maximum Overdrive
Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge
Death Spa
Birdemic
Ebola Syndrome (warning: problematic movie)
Shredder Orpheus

That's all I got for now.

I'm gonna throw in For Y'ur Height Only even though it's not a horror film.

And The Crippled Masters.
