Hi kw

I've thought about this a lot and have come to the conclusion that

are you looking for a roommate? I am not too far from Canada please help me find housing

i got u bb boy. i live in an amazing town with really cheap rent and a decent ability to work minimally and live well. we're gonna be hiring at my business so i can give ya a rad vegan punx job, we have universal health care and haven't had to worry about trans/queer rights in quite some time. obviously its never gonna be perfect, but legal gay marriage happened for us in the 90s and the general concensus in this country is use whatever washroom corresponds with you, more power to you.

come to st. catharines!

I'm literally crying thinking about how beautiful this is.

Lol that's who I meant! She hasn't posted in so long so I forgot. Yeah her and her partner seem to be doing well, they're living in Ohio now. They made zucchini bread that I heard good things about.

I know that only like 7 people post here now and we're all grown ass adults, so chances are most of you didn't go to PIX, but I had a really excellent time this year. The goal of showcasing newer bands or projects that aren't as well known went over very well and were generally my favorite acts I saw.

I also saw Boink! who I met at either the 2011 or 2012 pixfest too when I was way too shy to talk to people. She seems to be doing well.

Can someone from the board just go to PIX with plenty of storage space and a gopro with a standard SM-58 and bootleg all the shows?
Maybe Chris is doing this anyway.

I CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH PIXFEST16 IN 4K GUYS.

Now I feel dirty yaw'll

I just got a gopro and am way into using it. But I make no guarantees on bootlegging the entire thing. Mostly because I am old and am not sure how much of this I'm actually going to be able to see without getting all tuckered out.

It's next weekend. 22-24. It's supposed to be a heat wave, let's all be absolutely miserable in the Indiana humidity together!

I'm glad to hear everyone seems to be doing well! Everyone is doing so much exciting stuff. I don't want to bring the mood down saying anything about myself but I'm glad for everybody. Did anyone from the board go to PIX Fest this year? I really wanted to go and meet ya'll.

It hasn't happened yet and there's still tickets!

I'm feeling this so hard. Erik was such a talented person, and I was straight up obsessed with his music for some seriously formative times in my life. His writing was just a cut above while not also then taking on a self-conscious position in punk.

Thanks for making me think big thoughts about friends, community and creative efforts, Erik.

Blaster Al Ackerman was a fiction-writer/artist. He was not a physician, and this was one of his works.

Good to know.

I had a weird childhood so I've been familiar with that Throbbing Gristle track since I was probably 10, but reading that letter and backstory and then listening to it really added a new effect, and it is pretty creepy. Which isn't to say the song wasn't eerie before, I just liked a lot of unsettling music when I was a kid so it doesn't usually shake me so much.

PIXboard is growing up.

I've been taking testosterone for 10 months and it is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I feel so good about myself with my disgustingly awful facial hair and my goofy breaking voice. A large portion of my local community is adjusting and learning to use they/them pronouns for me, and I'm just so psyched on the whole ordeal. My band is also releasing a 7" and then going on tour for a month. I've never toured that long and I've never toured this route, so I'm so nervous but excited. My bandmates are my absolute best friends, spending this time with them is going to be so good. We're also playing PIXfest, so apparently I'm in a PIXband now. I still live at a house show spot, 5 years running now, and still live with my partner who is just now starting grad school for behavior stuff. It's making me consider grad school, too, but not for some time.

With all the good, I still feel pretty lost and directionless. Working 40 hours a week, even at a record store among friends, is getting to be a little soul crushing. My relationship, in spite of my absolute love for my partner, has taken some weird turns in the last couple of months that mostly have to do with my own emotional states.

A person who plays music in town here posted a link to a veteranstoday article about the Orlando shooting being a false flag. I don't generally entertain conspiracy theory things, it's not worth the energy to combat or pay attention to or anything. But the chief editor of that website is my friend's outlandishly batty father, who lives in the middle of Ohio with hundreds of guns and like 11 cats (as well as several families of raccoons). He totes a pretty extensive list of criteria, all false aside from actually being a veteran. The people on that site definitely believe they are right and that they are as important as they think they are - or at the very least this delusional guy does.

Alex Jones, however, total coin toss as far as being opportunistic or genuine.

I'm not really sure how dictating into your phone works because I have a flip phone, but maybe that's what's happening? But I feel like you can't turn caps on for this? Anyway, I feel bad for good ol' Hugh.

If this wasn't so much money, I keep trying to convince my housemate to start a food truck, and this would be the best CONVERSTION PEASE on the top of it, a la Dale Dead Bug.

I always seem to be telling you all about bad shit happening where I live, and even more bad shit has happened, but among all of that a glorious distraction emerged from a nearby craigslist:

both opening for the front bottoms, oddly enough.

Also, PWR BTTM is pretty good.
#67
Yes! Yeah I don't know anything about our Portland show yet, but it's looking positive.
#68
I will look into that, thank you!
#69
Haha yeah that seems pretty busy.

I am so far having zero luck in California and am not exactly surprised by that being the case. My lowly band just isn't gonna cut it on the coast like that.

Regardless, would love to run into any pixboard people on this!

I really might not know what I'm doing this time! My noisy punk band Anybody But The Cops is trying to venture west for almost a month this fall.

The ones with asterisks are more or less booked. This is over a week longer than any tour I've done previously. Do any of you live in these places or know people in these places? This is hugely daunting to me, as it seems like most bands I've booked and made contact with over the years came from the south, east coast, or midwest.

If any of you wanted any updates on this madness

Also, two folks who were shot quite badly did survive. A woman who put herself in the line of fire to protect kids, and a 14 year old girl who was at first pronounced dead are both alive and getting better.
