General / anyone actually see the new mad max?
June 01, 2015, 11:49:26 AM
I'm embarrassed to say I did but I actually don't regret it. It was pretty metal. When they prepare for war they have this giant caravan thing with drummers and in the front some dude with a deformed face and his shreds an axe that shoots fire..

Does anyone have any advice on how to get this underway? I have a tape of my du-wop/pop punk project called Cosmonaut and my other band FCNG but I want to get other bands obviously. Do contracts need to be drawn up? Do you usually pay the bands to be on it? I really don't know anything.

Jer I know you had (or do you still have?) your label and perhaps you could offer some pointers.

this shouldn't be a hard decision. it really shouldn't. the answer should come faster than a ramones count-off but somehow it doesn't..

i'm choosing between..

A) take these antidepressants i've been prescribed and gain a bunch of weight and go through life in a strangely pleasant daze

or

B) don't take them. stay miserable. keep wanting to die everyday. hate myself every day. periodic weeping spells. substance abuse and take all that pain and put it into comics and stories and music and art.

i don't have health insurance so my options are pretty limited. I go to a quack doctor and i had to beg the guy to give me an anti-depressant. he hands out xanax like it's fucking halloween and i'm a trick or treater but when it comes to something serious.. i don't know. I think i've been so used to melancholy and gloom that it's become an imaginary fucking friend or something. I don't feel like I deserve to be happy. I've done a lot of bad things in my life and I'm sure as shit going to keep fucking anything good that comes my way up.

I have to fight every second to tell myself that life is worth living. i always wondered how i found such an amazing person to love me and whom i love and my biggest fear was them finding someone else. i worried so much about it, hated myself so much that i didn't realize that it was possible that i could be loved and in doing so, i pushed her further and further.

I didn't realize how badly my depression was affecting her. She spent all her time worrying about me and making sure i was okay that she got alienated from her friends and family. It's gotten to the point that she can barely stand being around me ( i can't fucking blame her. it must be like hanging out with Marvin the Paranoid Android or Eeyore. We spend 2 years practically sitting at home smoking weed and watching movies. I didn't realize how selfish i was being. I'm pretty sure the only reason she's even with me at all anymore is because she's afraid i'll myself if she left me (which i told her i would.. at the time i was just being honest but thinking about it now it's actually extremely fucking selfish, manipulative, and i'm literally holding some hostage emotionally.

General / astrology
January 31, 2015, 08:57:02 AM
is anyone interested in it, open to the possibility that it could pertain some inkling of truth and could help us do get a better understanding of ourselves and our compatibility?

I used to always find everything astrological fucking ridiculous and still think horoscopes are just some guy sitting around and their editor comes and just says "go ahead. just make some shit up. talk about money and love or some shit that the average stupid fuck wants to hear". However, my girlfriend is into it and was reading me about my birth chart and other characteristics associated with Geminis and a lot it rang eerily true of my nature and ways and thoughts. Sure it could be ambiguity and me believing what i want to believe and make myself but some of the stuff she showed me at least made me a tiny bit curious.

General / my idea for a novel
January 30, 2015, 12:08:39 PM
two soldiers fall in love during the vietnam war. both 18 year old men. one a southern black man and the other a white male from new york. they identify as straight. gets into their minds and they wonder if they are falling for each other as lovers, or if it's a friendship, or if they are loosing their mind from the insanity and death around them and all that stuff. and then the war ends and they come home and they deal with their conflicting feelings. both returning to their homes, their families, wives, etc. etc. just a thought. maybe i'll actually be able to get around to writing it.

-diving super deep into tolkiens middle earth legendarium. the lord of the rings events occurred in the 3rd age. I've been reading about the first and second and servants of morgoth and numeronorian kings and whatnot.

-doing research for my zine neurotica, which i've decided will be about obsessions, devotion and what not. the first issue is going to be about comics. but i've be researching the zine, in general, and found some interesting things about it's history. Been checking out a bunch of PDF files of science fiction fanzines from the 1920s and 30's.

-60s garage punk. trying to find the rawest and brutalest and punkest shit possible, not the typical "proto-punk" (sonics/patti smith/suicide/mc5/stooges that while being awesome, is all people talk about.)

I'd buy a house on the west coast, way up in oregon, probably eugene. I'd want to build a treehouse and in that treehouse would be my studio. I'd buy all the equpiment necessary to make a state of the art studio and put all my heart and soul into making an album, an epic album, epic on the scope of In the Aeroplane over the Sea and Beatles White Album, only it wouldn't be as good (obviously) but it would be mine and i want to make these songs.

I'd use my free time (since I wouldn't have to work) to write and draw comics, make stories, books. I would help those in need. Find reputable charities and donate.

I'd do that expensive rapid detox thing and get the methadone and xanax outta my system once and for all.

I'd get a community space going. Something with a skatepark, venue, workshops on writing and music and activism, have AA and NA meetings there and offer help to addicts, and allow others to give suggestions and heed them if they are good. Maybe start a publishing company.

I know a lot of those things can be done without winning the lotto. In fact almost all of them. I dunno. So lemme really think of something stupid and unneccesary that i'd splurge on..

Probably some rare comics, rare records. I'd find good people who need student loans paid off and do it for them so they can embark on their future with a weight lifted.

Oh and I'd buy all the equpiment necessary to make films. It's something I've wanted to get into for quite some time but it seems like you need a lotta bread to do it.

and I'd buy myself a buncha awesome fucking guitars.

and unfourtantely some drugs probably.

and then i'd be broke and back here.

how bout you?

i posted a similiar thread a bit back but their was no response and the greatest rock n roll band in the world deserves more respect than that so i'm giving it another run.

because they are by far the greatest rock n roll band ever. the singer, has been playing music since the 60s. his early band the lollipop shoppe and the weeds had tracks on the seminal nuggets compilation.

They are described in an article as such.. "Dead Moon's music is a blend of dark '60s garage with punk rock; It was described by Robert Christgau as sounding "like the 13th Floor Elevators without the clinical dementia". Their early records, In the Graveyard, Unknown Passage, and Defiance, appeared on the band's own Tombstone Records, named for the music store Cole and Toody operated in Clackamas, Oregon. Cole mastered these records on a mono lathe from the 1950s that had been used for The Kingsmen's version of "Louie Louie"."

however i'd describe them as neil young (also maybe the AC/DC singer too) fronting a band of troglydtes hopped all up on dexedrine, embodying the pain and passion of the blues, the primative and savageness of rocknroll (lil richard style) and the fury and driving force of punk rock. Their music makes me think of whiskey, desperation, the desert, open roads, bottles upon bottles upon bottles, regret, and despite it all hope and beauty. All his early bands are worth checking out if you're into 60s punk.. The Weeds, The Lollipop Shoppe, Wheezagle, Zipper, King Bee, The Rats, Western Front, Range Rats, Dead Moon, and most recently Piercing Arrows. He has played with and is married to Toody Cole, the bassist and lyricist as well forever and they are madly in love and it's beautiful. His early band the Rats, came right when punk was becoming a "thing" and he took a break from garage rock to do that and put out a brilliant record, only to abandon it and do straight forward Country Western with the Western Front.

Anyhow, if you have never listened to Dead Moon, do it. You will not regret it. It will change the way you see rock n roll. I divided it into two categories. The soul crushing, steel toed boot to the face that sends a few teeth outta your mouth flying (and mind you this isn't hardcore, or what you would really call "punk". it's garage rock but it's not garage.. just listen and you'll see.. you'll see) and the mellow, beautiful, haunting ditties that could of been radio hits if it wasn't for coles distinctive voice.

HEAVY

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtEY8gaUXdQ heavy, brutal, so fucking rock n roll it's absurd.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xjws5MIjeOs manic, madness, desperation, like someone about to explode and go on a shooting spree

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFOowKu7WjA who says white man can't sing the blues? could seen screaming jay hawkins belting out this boogie

SOFTLY

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jOdUQW_jSs a beautiful, haunting, gorgeously wrapped gift to the world. i never get tired of hearing it and it could be the soundtrack to driving lonely roads with a head fulla regrets. it's the musical embodiment of the desert. sparse, minimal but with endless depth and meaning.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMAkZVC1sio so sad, tragic. you just hear his voice dripping with emotion. begging, pleading, like we all do. When you would trade anything in the world, would trade you're soul for a chance to go back a little bit in time and make some changes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vy4a5LhiuTw waiting on a dusty road, thumb stuck out, thinking about your life, your desires, broken dreams, lost lovers, think of how if all the cigarettes you've smoked where gathered together it'd form a mountain

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qljGaHJbCs proof of the existence of god

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSkN_Gw7sLo - toody, beautiful toody cole. her voice is so chillingly beautiful on this elvis cover song. it's haunting. she's truly a siren beckoning me over.

------------------

start from there. and leave no stones unturned. every song is a hit.

It's a great comic. like really, really good. written by Brian K. Vaughn who can't do wrong by me. " The series is about the seemingly only man, Yorick, who survives the apparent simultaneous death of every male mammal (barring the same man's pet monkey) on Earth."

It has it all.. comedy. tragedy. romance. political/socio satire and perspective. check em out. It's a fine contribution to the halls of classics.

the outlaw country acoustic GG Allin Album, it's actually quite impressive track for track and diversity.

It's really like i dunno, pat the fucking bunny or something only not as obnoixously folkpunk, like if he was held down and hooch was poured down his mouth by hank williams, David Allan Coe. Those cats. This is a Warren Zevon song. it rules..

i love old goo goo Dolls. I will always love blink 182. There is nothing they could do or say that would make their music sound nothing short of flawless to me. No body did a better job or making an album for kids growing up in the 90s who were finally starting to not be little kids anymore and they find music and find something that fits them and sounds perfect and is funny and makes you wanna move and makes you wanna just jump on the couch and do backflips and shit. yeah.

yeah,

General / CM Punk Vrs. Ben Weasel
November 22, 2014, 08:27:50 AM
Here are the words straight from the horses (ass) mouth...

"Okay gang, CM Punk's been running his mouth again and it's time to teach him a lesson. Who's CM Punk, you ask (along with the rest of the world)? Some washed up, burnt-out, has-been former wrestler who's been reduced to hanging out on Twitter challenging guys half his size to fist fights, that's who. I wish I was joking.

Yours truly was targeted by the big goof when he saw a YouTube video purportedly showing me hitting two women while on stage in Austin TX a few years ago. In fact I was hugging those ladies with my fists, not that it's any of his business. But the slobbering nitwit still challenged me to a fight, I guess so women will feel like he's a really great guy.

Well, guess what? I don't believe our female fans are delicate flowers in need of the protection of some oily mouth-breather who runs around in his underwear pretending to fight other men for a living. I think you ladies can hold your own. Heck, I KNOW you can.

So I'm challenging all our female fans - including all our M-F transgender fans - to stand up with us on stage at our show in Chicago on 11/22 and challenge the big goon to a fight. He thinks it's so easy to slug a chick? Let's see him try!

This is not a joke. If you're up to the challenge and can throw a solid punch, or even just kick a gym-muscled bully in his shriveled-up, steroid-ravaged nuts, post in this thread. Our road manager Kotton will contact you if we can use your help.

Let's shut this buffoon's mouth once and for all!

Please share this post!"

Just fnished reading Scalped (one of the best comics i've ever read. Written by Jason Aaron. His cousin wrote one of the best books on Vietnam that was the basis for Full Metal Jacket and he wrote the screenplay for that baby too. But Jason can more than hold his own.

i've been working as a plumbers helper and i generally work 10-12 hour days, worked today and gonna have to work tomorrow (nothing gets the blood flowing like working 7 days a week just to survive!). my only solace is the lie i tell myself at the end of the day that i'm doing it just so i can get a nice tax return in april and take the money and run away with the love of my life to play music and be happy and make love all day. i'm too tired to write during the only time i have to do it if i wanted to, the bus ride to work. i wake up at 5 every morning just to make it to my methadone program when i could sleep another 2 hours if i wasn't a drug addict. i'm too exhausted to even fuck.. the love of my life things its because of her, she doesn't feel beautiful and she is. everything i do is for her but i barely have time to see her. why does life have to suck?

if for some reason you haven't heard 'em, the Sonics were one of the filthiest, rawest, brutally executed song writers of the 60s. They were the first punk rock n roll band. The sound on their first album, Here Are The Sonics is perfect, truly perfect. It's exactly how every album should sound as far as music and recording quality. It's just so guttural and punk. Ahead of their time is an understatement.

Scientists Claim That Quantum Theory Proves Consciousness Moves To Another Universe At Death
http://earthweareone.com/scientists-claim-that-quantum-theory-proves-consciousness-moves-to-another-universe-at-death/
#183
Jimmy Page- "In 1972 he kidnapped a 14 year old girl, had sex with her and then hid her for years to avoid jail. Yes, what a keeper. Lori Maddox said that Jimmy's roadie threw her in the back of his limo and said "You fucking move and I'll fucking have your head." So after they had gross illegal underage sex, Jimmy kept her behind locked doors so that their relationship would not be discovered. Lori actually stayed with him for years later saying the whole thing was "romantic".  He never saw the inside of a court house (for this anyways) and went without a slap on the hand. Bet you didn't know about that fun Jimmy Page story."

Vince Neil- "In 1984 Vince Neil, the lead singer, was having a house party. I guess they got to the end of their chips and soda (i.e. drugs and booze) and Vince decided to act like a moron and drunkenly drive to the nearest store with his friend Razzle in the car. Of course they hit another car head-on and Razzle was killed instantly while the other driver and passenger were hospitalized. Why wasn't he charged and put away? Being THAT famous has its perks. Vince later said "I wrote a $2.5 million check for vehicular manslaughter when Razzle died. I should have gone to prison. I definitely deserved to go to prison. But I did 30 days in jail and got laid and drank beer, because that's the power of cash. That's fucked up."

Sean Penn- "Sean was married to the young and upcoming singer, Madonna. Well their marriage went south quickly and he decided the best thing to do was to tie her to a chair and assault her for hours. He ran out of booze (oh no!) and came back to continue. She finally escaped after telling Sean she had to go to the bathroom. What we don't understand is why Sean thought she should have some privacy to pee when he had no problem beating the stuffing out of her and emotionally abusing her for hours. Madonna had him arrested but did not press charges because she did not want a media circus. So he was let go scot-free."

Charles Dickens - Everyone knows the Muppets' Christmas Carol. Well, that is based off a Dickens' novel. Yeah way! He is a famous author that is known internationally for his sharp critique of the Victorian Revolution in England. What you might not know is that Charles really hates fatties. He really puts the dick in Dickens. He married Catherine Hogarth and they had 10 children together in 22 years. But then she got fat and he started an affair with an 18 year old. Cheating on your wife who stood by your side when you were an unknown writer is a horrible thing to do. But he couldn't stop it at that. Once he went public with his mistress, he went to every newspaper that would have him calling his wife a fat ass, an idiot and an "unloving and unloved mother" who planned to stick him with all of his 10 children. So why don't people know about this? Catherine never said anything about his betrayal. She never went to journals or papers to fight him. In fact the only thing she did until the day she died was give some love letters he wrote for her and said ""Give these to the British Museum, that the world may know he loved me once". If that does not break your heart, you are dead inside.

Dr Dre- "When you think about Dre you might think of his awesome headphones or Eminem. He was a pretty big star in his own right when he hit the rap scene with his crew N.W.A in 1989. They were rapping about wanting to kill the police, getting it on with the ladies and being an overall gangsta. In 1990, Dee Barnes interviewed Ice Cube, another member of N.W.A so they decided to beat the crap out of her. So when Dr. Dre saw her at a record release party after the interview, he managed to sweet talk her to the side of the party and "began slamming her face and the right side of her body repeatedly against a wall near the stairway". This was in front of the whole party and his bodyguard held the crowd off. He tried to throw her down the stairs and when he failed, he just starting kicking her in the ribs. When she managed to get up, he chased her into the women's bathroom where he donkey punched her for a bit longer. This was her side of the story. When member of N.W.A were asked about it, they said "the bitch deserved it" and "bitch had it coming". Thankfully Dee Barnes tried to sue him for $22.5 million. Of course, he managed to talk his way out of it- 240 hours of community service, two years' probation and an anti-violence PSA was his punishment. His career didn't suffer and he went on to sell 4.5 million copies of his album "The Chronic"."

Elvis Costello- "I remember the first time I heard of Elvis Costello, he was in an "Austin Powers" film, and I decided then and there that must be cool. After I asked around, I found out that he is music god who has released two of the biggest albums EVER in music history. Shame about that whole racist thing. America was finally starting to become more open minded about minorities in 1979 and it was a no no to use racial slurs. So what does this British transplant do? Gets hammered and calls Ray Charles a "blind, ignorant nigger" and James Brown a "jive-ass nigger." This got printed and his reputation was on the downward swing. He apologized and made the lamest excuse: I was trying to get out of a stupid conversation. He then participated in a charity event called "Rock Against Racism".  Do you feel warm and fuzzy about him now? Because no one else seems to remember."

Johnny Cash- "After "Walk the Line" came out, Johnny became a superstar again. He was the original bad boy in country music. Of course no one seems to remember the time he almost wiped out a species of birds. We kid you now. Cash was going through Los Padres National Forest in central California. His truck overheated and it went up in flames. Like a normal person, Cash went fishing instead of trying to find help. The fire spread and burned a square mile of the forest. Here comes the bird part: 49 California Condors were killed by the fire. This was approximately 50% of the entire species. So what happened? The government used him and they settled for a $82,000 fine. Of course it took over $30 million to attempt to conserve these birds. His defense? He was sorry but "I don't give a damn about your yellow buzzards."

Rick James- Rick James is known for his Motown inspired style as well for being a "superfreak". I think it is fair to say that being a superfreak does not constitute if you kidnap someone and torture her for 20 hours. If Mary Sauger, a music executive, was not enough, while on parole he held Frances Alley hostage for stealing his drugs- did we forget to mention is crack and coke addiction? He tied her up for SIX DAYS and burnt her with his crack pipe and raped her for approximately 12 hours. Poor lil' Rick was convicted of two charges but not torture, which would have put him in jail for life. No one remembers this version of him and instead prefer the hilarious and charming Dave Chappelle version.

Eric Clapton- "Everyone knows at least one of Eric's hits. "Layla" or "Wonderful Tonight" were massive hits. That is all nice and dandy but here is where it gets messed up. Eric Clapton is supporter of Enoch Powell, a member of the British Conservative Party and full-blown racist. Enoch said that England was going to go to ruins if England's immigration (a.k.a. non-white) policy did not change. Most people were smart enough to ignore this guy. But not Eric. In a drunken performance in 1974, Eric went off on a rant about "wogs" and "blacks". Although all recordings disappeared a witness said that he said" I think Enoch's right ... we should send them all back. Throw the wogs out! Keep Britain white!" and that Britain was on its way to becoming "a black colony". Since there was no proof that this happened, Eric stated that he was not racist and that was the end of it."

just when i lose faith in nyc, humanity, truth, art, etc something "coincidental" happens.. last night after a beautiful day with my baby i ran into a man sitting in the train station surrounded by all his beautiful art. i stop and talk to him a bit. i ask his name. he said he doesn't have one. i told him i love his art and wanted to buy something and he said "i don't sell my art. it's not mine to sell. it came to me from somewhere and who am i to tell someone else they have to pay?" and he let me pick out my favorite and he made a frame for it and everything. i don't know how else to describe the work of art other than a "masterpiece" and i'm not exaggerating or being dramatic. coincides with the books i've been re-reading about deconstructing capitalism, communist theories put into practice, etc, etc, and i think of stupid yuppies who sell their thrift shop shirts which they spray paint some stupid stencil on for 50 bucks or the galleries filled with a giant blank canvas and someone wrote "cunt" in the center and splashed a bucket of diarrhea on the canvass and sell it for a million for old art hags to come with their old husbands who stroke their pubic hair goatee and drink wine and admire the "fine art".. life is funny and refreshingly refreshing at times.. don't let your guard down and don't give up

anyone come across any "real" (for lack of a more articulate word) people in your travels through life?

General / fight club 2 coming out as a comic series
July 24, 2014, 03:55:49 AM
i haven't really cared for palahnuik since i was 13 (should of posted that in the what i was doing when i was 13 thread) but this could be cool. maybe. i dunno, i like comics.
--------------------------------
Chuck Palahniuk is making a sequel to the schizo-trippy novel on contemporary manhood that inspired teenaged boys everywhere to fistfight in the name of anarchy. Instead of traditional fiction, the second installment will be a maxiseries by Dark Horse Comics. Fight Club 2 debuts in May 2015 as a 10-issue graphic novel illustrated by Cameron Stewart.

Palahniuk broke the news in an interview with USA Today, but he sealed the fate of Fight Club 2 last year, when he accidentally mentioned a sequel at New York's Comic Con.

"I messed up and said I was doing the sequel in front of 1,500 geeks with telephones," Palahniuk told USA Today. "Suddenly, there was this big scramble to honor my word."

In his virtuosic fashion, Palahniuk will use juxtaposition in Fight Club 2 to flashback to younger years. However, the new plot will focus on the unnamed narrator ten years after his creation of Project Mayhem, which is still kicking. The now middle-aged father tries to raise his 9-year-old boy – son to wife Marla Singer – but finds himself repeating the same failures of his father.

The first novel was "such a tirade against fathers – everything I had thought my father had not done combined with everything my peers were griping about their fathers," Palahniuk told USA Today. "Now to find myself at the age that my father was when I was trashing him made me want to revisit it from the father's perspective and see if things were any better and why it repeats like that."

super metal intros and transitions between songs. like if meat loaf grew up listening only to scandinavian crust and was into the black arts. i know not everyone here is a metal aficionado, let alone gives an ioto of a fuck about the genre but just check it out. just as an experiement to see what trust evil sounds like.

General / outsider artists
July 17, 2014, 05:32:46 PM
reading a book about Harvey Darger, "a reclusive American writer and artist who worked as a custodian in Chicago, Illinois. He has become famous for his posthumously discovered 15,145-page, single-spaced fantasy manuscript called The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is Known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion, along with several hundred drawings and watercolor paintings illustrating the story. The visual subject matter of his work ranges from idyllic scenes in Edwardian interiors and tranquil flowered landscapes populated by children and fantastic creatures, to scenes of horrific terror and carnage depicting young children being tortured and massacred. Much of his artwork is mixed media with collage elements. Darger's artwork has become one of the most celebrated examples of outsider art."

The book is a quasi biography/interpretation about the misconception/suspicion that Darger was either a serial killer/pediophile/sociopath.. the book just shows a sad lonely closeted homosexual during a very repressive and depressing chicago existence. There's something about people who create art for arts sake and don't have any desire for fame appeals to me.

'm trying to do a show in the backyard of my apartment and i want any band that wants to play and hang so yeah, come do that. it's gotta be on a weekend cuz i work weeks.. so like yeah, saturday or sunday is best. saturday because we can shred later. i got some cool bands up my sleeve i haven't revealed yet. i like that approach, hold out on the big guns to give the smaller, unknown ones a fair chance to rock the fuck out with whatever their genital is out... lemme know if you got a got a band, or got a guitar/harmonica/banjo/skinflute, ukulele and wanna sing over it, come through.. i would prefer it to punk as fuck but i'm open minded and want any/all bands/acts that are anti-establishment, extreme, bizarre, raw and real... hip hops cool but i highly doubt anyone will actually come and do that. my brother does pretty rowdy electric shit and he's doing that with a live drummer over it, an insane anarchist buddy of mine who used to play drums in my band FCNG before his nervous breakdown. so.. come to new york and play it. you can crash at my place after... don't mind the cute girlfriend and bunny rabbit ( i have a cracksmoking alcoholic transvestite roommate but she keeps to herself and doesn't really venture out the room)

I had this vague memory of a horrifyingly fucked up game that was in that collection of old games the elementary school apple computers used to have. sure everyone remembers and talks about oregon trail but does anyone remember... Freedom??

All I remember was you had to follow the north star to escape and if you got caught they said you were going to get your legs cut off so you could never run again. it was brutal and horrirble and so much so i started thinking i made it up in my mind somehow and it couldn't have existed so today i had nothing to do and finally had to look it up and see...

low and behold...

"Freedom! was an educational computer game developed by MECC. The player assumed the role of a runaway slave in the Antebellum Period of American history who was trying to reach the North through the Underground Railroad. The game met a mixed reception; some educators found it valuable while others found it racially offensive due to its use of stereotyped speech by slave characters.

In 1993, a group of offended parents sued a school which had provided the game to students and MECC, the developer. The game was pulled off the market as a result."

"Gameplay
Players choose one of two characters. The male character was typically illiterate; written signs and notes appeared onscreen as indecipherable symbols. The male character receives a pass from his slavemaster in order to escape to the North. The female character is sometimes able to read and write, and is able to forge a pass in order to run, in addition to asking for a pass. Players attempt to avoid slavecatchers, who may or may not perceive their character's pass as legitimate."
