It seemed to be more of a spoof on those like, "you don't have to talk to a cop" videos, which is dumb because those are important. And then suddenly he is in black face and gets the shit beat out of him, but it was so loosely executed that you are kind of left wondering if he even IS actually making a point about institutionalized racism or just...making an easy joke, in black face.

Has anyone seen the first preview for "W/ Bob & David" the new mr show or whatever?? I would love to hear yalls takes on it. I feel v conflicted re: the blackface. I wanted to be more stoked but a little bit was like WTF? I DO get that it's satire... But it's not that clear, and also INVOLVES BLACKFACE. I am stumped.

I'm starting to get pretty serious about making this happen, I am thinking 5 years from now? I want to move to Scandinavia or the Netherlands most likely. Top choice is Amsterdam because I'm a cliche and also I really don't want to drive and also because I just finished the Letters of Vincent Van Gogh. Alternatively, Canada, which would probably be the easiest but also the most like America, which I am sick to death of. Cost of living has always been the biggest drawback, but I live in Portland, so the comparison is actually pretty equal it seems. Really just want to know how hard it really is, if anyone has done it before? I've seen that they have a tax break if you are a "skilled worker" in Amsterdam at least... Anyone know how open that interpretation is? Tattoo artist is pretty skilled.... but it's not exactly the super techy jobs that most people talking about the tax break have...

Thank yooou!!! I seriously feel more passion for tattooing than I have ever felt for anything in my life. It's SO CHEESY but I feel like I've found my calling kind of, or at least the absolute most awesome and fun and exciting way to make art and money and have the chance to travel a lot, etc. Gary is letting me do my first tattoo on him, and it's going to be a matching version of my rocket ship tattoo on my forearm. So romaaaanntic! Ahhhh I can't wait!

We just finished WHAS First day of camp and I am SO STOKED about how on point it was. I really really hope it's hella successful.

I watched a few episodes of Rick and Morty with my partner who is a fan, but I was disappointed by the level of sexism. Seems like the best cartoons these days are pretty progressive on this front.

I just need more Odenkirk on my television screen asap.

General / Re: Did any of you ever journal?
September 07, 2015, 07:46:13 AM
I never was very consistent but when I did, it always felt soooo self conscious, like I was writing everything as if someone else would eventually find it. Also I thought I was going to be a great writer briefly in my early teen years, and then when I read a lot more amazing literature, I realized that I wasn't and also that I liked reading way more than writing. BUT I have had therapists over the years highly recommend it, so I consider taking it up again. I think I'd have to make it a daily habit if there was going to be any chance of keeping it up, and also, against all my romanticized ideas of journaling, I think I'd be more likely to write if it was on my computer.

I peaked at one of my high school journals a few months ago, and, like with reading old facebook messages or something, it just made me feel like an idiot. Maybe that kind of perspective is important?

+++++++ I'm a few weeks away from starting my practical section at school (when I get to actually tattoo people/do "procedures") which means after 6 months of studying and learning alllll about infection control, skin diseases, blood borne pathogens, etc. I FINALLY GET TO ACTUALLY TATTOO PEOPLE. Yesterday was my first go on "second skin" which is a latex practice skin that we use to..practice on. It's WAY HARDER to tattoo than actual skin, but it's a good time to get a feel for the machines, and practice proper needle depth. ANYWAY I'M BASICALLY A REAL TATTOO ARTIST ALMOST BASICALLY!!!!!!!

Rory, congrats! I hope your amazing news is met with nothing but support and love, as it should be.

Haha! THANKS I do have a lot to complain about.

I have so many "cube farm" related pet peeves now! BURNT POPCORN? WHY IS IT ALWAYS BURNT? I work in a call center (okay, "virtual receptionist") cube farm so I've been cultivating lots of phone etiquette pet peeves. Like, people making important phone calls from very noisy environments, or 15 minutes before whatever thing is happening and they ABSOLUTELY MUST SPEAK WITH SOMEONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE THEY DID NOT THINK TO MAKE THIS PHONE CALL ANY SOONER. ugggghhhh people are the worst

holy shit i love fizzy water. any citrus is my jam, especially blood orange perrier. COCONUT is the best though. we were gifted a soda stream a few years ago and have used the hell out of it, i like to make flavored simple syrups (thanks pinterest!) to make custom sodas, or just squeeze lemon or lime juice into it. my favorite was mixing the soda water with limeade concentrate to make a lime soda situation.
