Man being 13 sucked so much.   I guess I still played baseball, that was cool.

completely forgot until i read this, but i was also playing soccer at school and i was the only not-super-preppy girl on the team. it was kinda rough for me socially, because (this is going to sound like bullshit but it isnt) all the preppy girls really hated me because i didn't give a shit about being popular and i was the only 7th (and then 8th) grader on the varsity team that started every single game of the season. also i was fat so they were extra pissed that i was basically a star player. they were dicks to me and all my actual friends were on the softball team. they tried to get me to play softball with them but soccer was just too important to me. womp womp

i never really got into weird al when i was younger because i thought it was stupid, but i like it more the older i get actually. his lyrics ARE really clever and making parodies as excellent as his seems really difficult. i love how sincere he is and how unapologetically HIMSELF he is, especially for someone who has been in the music industry long enough to see how far being fake gets you. and the fact that he had a #1 record after being around for so long for some reason makes me really happy like how bad can things really be if people are still spending that much money on a weird al record.

Lindsey:

Quote from: lindsey on July 22, 2014, 08:39:02 AMnever really even talked about being boyfriend and girlfriend, then he went back home to nashville until the end of the summer and when he got back we didn't talk about it at all ever again. it was weird!

So what you're saying is, you still have a boyfriend to break up with.

haha, yeah i guess that's true!

i've been cheating on him a loooottttt oops

You really should track him down on Facebook and send a long winded confession and apology and make it all dramatic and see how he responds.

we are actually friends on fb, and we were friends all through high school until he eventually moved permanently to nashville, we just never brought up our "relationship" after that. weird! his younger sister lives in portland now too and i once sent her a message to see if she wanted to get together some time, and she never responded. it's weird because she always thought i was really rad when we would run into each other in asheville?

blink 182 was suuuuper my jam too! i think i was 13 in 8th grade? i started to get into punk in 7th grade so by 8th grade i THOUGHT i was punk as fuck. I had a huge crush on this boy named Roy and spend the entire year trying to impress him, i got into a bunch of bands because they were his favorite bands, some of which i still like (ani difranco!) and some i'm kind of embarassed by (thursday!), we traded mix cds and flirted all year, and then on the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL i finally got up the nerve to ask him to be my boyfriend hahaha. he said yes, and my response was, "you don't have to say yes if you don't want to" or something like that. my self confidence was NOT GOOD (i was a fat tom boy wannabe punk girl with bad hygiene basically). anyway, he said "i wouldn't say yes if i didn't want to". at the beginning of the summer we "went out" a few times, only kissed once, and never really even talked about being boyfriend and girlfriend, then he went back home to nashville until the end of the summer and when he got back we didn't talk about it at all ever again. it was weird!

i can't remember much else about being 13. this is when i started to skip class and make shitty grades even though i was really smart. i left my group of "smart kid" friends and started hanging out with trouble makers. had ISS (in-school suspension!) for the first time. my best friend cut herself reeeeeally intensely and it was a whole drama. my other best friend left school one day and everyone thought she went missing and it was a whole drama. turns out she just left and walked home. i started to gain more confidence in my personality at least and wasn't as shy as before, and became kind of the class clown.  i tried to learn how to skateboard but i was really bad at it.

i've only played cards against humanity once but it was really fun and hilarious? we just pulled out and set aside the most offensive cards

i was in a pathfinder campaign where everyone but the DM was a novice, it was really fun and less intimidating that i was expecting since everyone was new... i wasn't really very good at creating a well rounded character though. i got really into listening to everyone else and then when it was my turn i was kind of like a deer in the headlights. i eventually got comfortable enough to make somewhat of a contribution though. unfortunately the game kind of fell apart after a few months because schedules got too hard to coordinate, but we're hoping to get back together in the fall maybe.

otherwise, we have random game nights where we play catan, or apples to apples/cards against humanity, and a crowd favorite is this game called dixit - has anyone else played it? we're looking to get the expansion but it's super pricey :(

not sure what you mean what's the deal? i have one that looks like a small staple that flips up and i've had occasion to wear it, didn't mind it, and unless you were looking for it you'd never know it was there. they make clear plastic ones too but i def wouldn't recommend wearing one of those for more than a few hours because yuck.

alaska is gonna be DOPE! we're definitely not planning on living there for more than 2 years, and Juneau (the city we'd move to) has a cute little arts community to explore and G would come back to portland for the summers which is when he does most of his acting anyway.

i would choose to live in alaska because it is incredibly beautiful and i want to experience living there! I've wanted to live in alaska for as long as i can remember, it just seems like a foreign dream land! i would definitely get tired of wilderness and living in a tiny ass town after a while though, which is why we're planning something super short term. the opportunity has made itself known so i want to go for it and see if we can make it happen. ALASKAAAAAA!!!! i can't believe there's even a question of why, it seems so amazing!!!!!

don't you work for a huge retail chain? you got them to pay you in cash?!

haha well i have a bank, but i'm still using my credit union in NC? So i have direct deposit for my paychecks and that's all fine but I don't have any actual branches of my bank that i can go into to cash a check. It's rarely a problem because WHO USES CHECKS but i've been meaning to get an account with a bank that is more accessible... i just haven't gotten around to it because i have sooooo much shit linked to my current account and it's gonna be a huge hassle. THE END

if the check is issued by bank of the west should they be able to cash it? is that a thing?

ginger ale is my jam, i'd love to hear y'alls favorites. i like 'em real spicy if possible.

i loooove soda but i'm trying to cut back because sugar. i had a dr. browns ginger ale last night that was basically your typical "natural" type ginger ale. it was okay.

i also LOVE orange sodas, my favorite of all time is jarritos mandarin and hansen's tangerine and lime which tastes just like jarritos mandarin.

my boyfriend got a soda stream for christmas so i've been really into making my own "soda", i made one batch of ginger syrup that was really good but i made it too sweet and syrupy (like gloppy), but i mixed ginger syrup and limeade concentrate and soda water and it was fucking delicious. a few days ago i made sparkling raspberry lemonade with fresh crushed raspberries, it was pretty good. i wanna get into making lavender blends, i wanna try lavender ginger and lavender blueberry sodas the most. and also, sparkling teas! i wanna make a sparkling passion tea real bad. not sure if these count as SODA though.
