+ i'm figuring out a lot of mental health stuff and feelings towards myself
+ been discussing hangouts and makeouts with a cutie
+ working on ways to maximise my creativity
+ planning a trip to california after christmas
+ been bonding super well with one of my roommates and am very glad that person exists in my life
- still feeling a little off about aforementioned relationship going weird although it seems to be on a better path now
- still feeling a little shaky as far as mental stability goes, but it could be and has been much worse

- i spent ages being sad and down on myself over the latter part of summer and i feel like that didn't put me in the best position still being relatively new to the city/country/continent
- all that kinda led to a relationship going sorta weird
+ but that all has seemed to have given me a bit of a shake and now i'm trying to do things about it
- but seeing a doctor about mental health stuff when you're not eligible to be covered by healthcare is not easy
+/- so i'm generally pretty up and down right now but trying to be okay

General / Re: Do you make new friends?
October 26, 2014, 05:12:03 PM
i am generally terrible at making new friends. if i'm suddenly thrown into a new situation where i can just be like "hey i'm new! lets be friends!" i do okay, but once the dust settles, anxiety takes over. i had quite a few hangouts when i first moved to toronto and was keen to be social, but now i'm stuck in the pattern of "this person wants to hang out and they seem cool but hanging out with new people is scary and staying home isn't so ill just stay home" then i just end up staying home and feeling sorry for myself. i feel like i'm tiring of toronto far quicker than i had wanted to.

oh and apparently that show is happening at iydea - there are two locations but shows always used to happen at the one on kensington gardens. might be worth checking though. also you should get food at iydea because it's delicious.

i had some pretty intense family issues around the age of 13 and was an incredibly unhappy young teenager. my grades at school started to drop around that time and i didn't really have any friends. yay!

Another Indian soda that Coke bought the rights to, to keep Pepsi from doing so first, is Thums Up.  It's a cola with a punch of ginger!

thums up is pretty nice. i used to go to an indian restaurant in the uk that described it simply as "like coke but more indian".

oh that's interesting because i used to love dr pepper but over time it tasted to me like a watered down root beer. i am willing to try it but i know the uk one at least contains aspartame which gives me migraines.

recently moved to toronto from the uk, settling in, working in a vegan bakery and trying to do a lot of my own craft stuff, hoping to visit a bunch of places i have never been to this side of the world. basically.
That's quite a life shakeup, Hannah! I didn't know you had moved recently. What spurred the move? Was it hard to basically shake the etch-a-sketch of your life and start a new one in a new place?

well i've moved around a lot in the uk and for a long time i'd wanted to move abroad but for ages i couldn't decide where exactly. i'd considered mainland europe because it's not that hard to move there but my heart wasn't set on it, and i'd wanted to move to america because there's so much to explore and i have friends in various parts, but it's hard to move there from the uk. then i found out i could apply for a working visa for canada but that i only had a limited amount of time to apply so i just went for it and applied as soon as the next bunch were released, and that was that. i'd been planning it for about a year and a half before actually moving, and it was a scary thing as i'd never lived abroad before and had to scale down my belongings a huge amount, but i'm totally glad i did it and now i just want to explore all the new places i am now so much closer to.

so happy that dakota was the first person to respond to this thread.

having just moved to canada from the uk i am very excited at the amount of new soda pops i get to try. i am mostly trying to sample every kind of root beer possible but jones's bubblegum is also up my alley, as are most apple flavoured things. the jarritos i've tried have been good. there is also a higher quality of cream soda over here, they were mostly all terrible in the uk. i'm not a huge cream soda fan but could be partial to one once in a while now i know i can get decent ones.

also me and kw are planning a root beer zine so any root beer fans should look out for that in the not too distant future.

Gender/Pronouns: Most people use feminine ones, but whatever your first instinct is is fine. Just please don't call me "woman" or "ma'am"[/img]

i agree with that last bit so much. i hate lady too.
