I was watching Orange is the New Black, and then watched an episode of Voyager.   Might just be the makeup, but Kate Mulgrew did not age well.

also that is very true, i saw her in other tv shows and was like, is that captain janeway?

Don't try and use the board reset as a way to make new forum members think that we all think DS9 is the best.
We don't.
I don't.

I love the Anticon label. it was called abstract hip hop would they first came out with bands like cLOUDDEAD/Dose One, Atmosphere, Why? etc. I've heard people call them hipster rap but i don't care, its fuckin' wicked

Why? has apparently developed a huge following after he switched to an indie rock style sound. Which i like too, but he had some great raps back then, often mixed with that indie shoegaze-ish style

and probably my favorite, (well tied with Sage Francis and Dose One) Sole:

and this is a bunch of the anticon guys in a band together

i've never heard of orphan black ---- what kind of thing is it? is it new?

i've been watching fargo recently - and loving it. the end of every episode absolutely kills me, knowing that it'll be a whole week (!!!)

totally, fargo is probably one of the best tv series of all time in my opinion. and they really do end each episode with a ...well..not necessarily a cliffhanger but just after epicness (kind of like game of thrones too, which i love so much too Tague! )

Orphan black just started its second season. its BBC America's second or third original series (filmed and produced in Canada with US money/producers to literally a British-Canadian-US co production). I'll describe the very first scene, a girl pick pockets a guy (or something similar) and is escaping pursuit. she hits the train station where she sees herself, a doppleganger/twin someone who looks just like her. Before she can say anything the woman jumps onto the tracks as the train appears, leaving behind her purse with identification and everything. its revealed and no spoiler to tell you that its discovered she was a clone and the main character is as well and there is a whole thing and i just realized i'm making sound boring and stupid and its so much better than that, don't let my sorry description that does it no justice hinder you from seeing it.

It also brings up many interesting cultural cues on nature vs nurture. for one, one close is gay, another is trans. its brings up interesting ideas on what makes a person a person. memory? enculturation? where does the nature end and the nurture begin...

i have never written but always wanted to write my own clone story, which makes many allusion to A Tale of Two Cities, in which the clone is the normal hard working, wife and kids "average joe" type of guy and the original ends up being an addict and on the streets. the main story was going to be in the court room where they have to decide whether the clone has the right to exist as he was created illegally and with the religious right seeing it as an abomination to their way of life. iw as going to end it with the original going to visit the clone after he is found guilty of illegally existing and sentenced to death and they switch places. the whole court room, execution, and switching places is meant to be an homage to tale of two cities

holy shit i can't believe i played that when i was like 8 in elementary school. i didn't remember until i saw the screenshot on wikipedia and my eyes literally went wide. wow ...just wow.. i wonder how they described it to the producer "its like oregon trail but with black people". i can't see how anyone thought this would be a good idea for a game, slavery is nothing to make of levity

I really, really want to be into it but just can't. i love basketball but just ca't get into watching it, and baseball too but baseball is more of a social thing where you hang and talk with people when you watch it (which is why i never undersdtand watching baseball alone) i don't know, but i have a special present for you Lindsey, from John Oliver, a rant about FIFA! I had no idea about all this stuff.

i love john oliver, his show is the like the pbs six oclock news of the daily show, ie where the pbs news spends 10-15 min on a story that regular news spends 2 min on and such. oliver goes on 12 min rants about stuff and its freakin wonderful. i love his dichotomy about knowing all this stuff but still wanting to see and be apart of it.

its so weird watching my dvds and realizing that when that came out no one on it was rich and famous, david cross probably  being the most famous and even then, not so much. the girl who went on to the awful show called "24". the future Saul of breaking bad. The fifth member of the blueman group. and that episode where they do a rendition of that jesus/god broadway show (shit i honestly can't think of the original name for it.) jesus something or other
