yes yes i have read them before, along with scholar work on it

i'm not saying jewish and non jewish is the same but...um... saying that all jewish is spelled with a k and all non jewish is spelled with a q is so ridiculous i have no comment.

what about the chinese writers of chi kung and the american writers who used the correct qigong? were the chinese wrong and the american right!

hemertic qabalah under the wiki doesn't say how the hundreds of differ practices, as practices change over all religions over all times, is specifically always spelled with a Q, that is a ridiculous way to put the line in the sand as it were.  but i don't care anymnore. i read this shit ten years ago so think what you want. I DON'T GIVE A GODDAMN.

For whatever it's worth, anybody who practices Qaballah with a Q is almost definitely not practicing authentic Jewish Kabbalah.

not worth much. hebrew to greek to latin to modern transliteration

its like saying Yahweh and Jehovah are two different things. hebrew doesn't have vowels, yada yadda yadda i give up

I realize i can be weird when I go into my rants and logic and philosophical hogwash. But I love reading and moreso practical use for philosophy. I've never thought of writing a non-fiction work before but I have been throwing around some ideas, mostly with playing the devil's advocate, finding the logical conclusion for something I am really against but trying my damnest to defend it, then combing back through it rebuking it and hopefully finding that my personal thoughts are the victor. Plus, done in appropriate setting, which is why i am making new topic, i think it can be good clean fun. If anyone would like to participate, some ideas for starting off debate in which I would play against poster's positions: Gun control vs Gun Banning [regulation, complete banning, all firearms or only most dangerous, no change at all], socialist policy vs free market [left wing vs right wing core positions, welfare state vs libertarian free market, if a true free market could be had, how would it be taxed and should it, how to provide an ethical welfare state, and other aspects of the liberal/conservative view of policy] identity politics vs individualism [identity politics as authoritarian or necessary for equality, the ethics of taking out the individual in term of policy, are these truly liberal ideas, are they utilitarian? (i am, most often, consider myself a utilitarian in terms of ethics although there are certainly good arguments against it]

consequentialism vs kant's deontology [ethics in terms of effect or intention]

skepticism vs the many forms of skepticism even being skeptic of itself and oneself

epistemology and knowledge. rationalism vs idealism. is consciousness an aspect of something physical or something beyond our knowledge or beyond matter

purpose and use of language. rhetoric. do words and language affect our thinking and view of the world.

if anyone is interested these are some things on my mind of recent. i don't have to play devil's advocate, could always just discussion

Back when I sought out every religion and esoteric beliefs in search of a hidden mystery that many seemed to know but I was somehow missing, I read quite a bit on occultism and magic, which even aleister crowley admitted was more symbolism and a psychological tool to enact mental awareness and the such. Crowley owed a lot to the yogis.

Israel Ragardie of the golden dawn used the tarot as a means of Qabbalic mysticism to achieve awareness or enlightenment or what have you. Basically he describes using the tarot similarly to a person using free writing to learn about themselves psychologically. Further in and the tarrot are microcosmic symbols for the sephira of the Qaballah tree of life, which is itself meant as a microcosm for existence and the creation of mankind. Since he practiced "the middle pillar" meditating on the sephira and tarot associated with it, a person could reach brain change or something of the like. I always found it funny how the 3 pillars of tree of life [negative, positive, middle/neither] seemed like a western version of the tao [yin/yang, with middle pillar as the flowing combination of those energies]

If i remember right, Crowley used tarot for similar and also to communicate with one's own ...oh what the hell did he call it...holy guardian angel. something along those lines. remarkably judeo-christian for all the hate he got from christians but most of his stuff came from the rosicrucians who got their stuff from Solomon who basically was just doing Qabbalah.

Franz Bardon however takes these concepts to incredible psychological heights. its a shame he called it magic cause he could have easily titled his first book, 'how to increase all falculties of your mind through willpower and personal realization using western occult symbolism' except he believed in the other-wordly aspect of it all. His second book is nothing but sigils and spells to call upon angels and demons, which i guess could have psychological aspects to help but i couldn't tell you them. he only wrote two books of his designated collection, which would have been each book representing an aspect of the tarot.

lots of symbolism and representation in its history. its poetic and interesting, to me at least. But I haven't thought about it seriously in years, seemed a lot of it was western versions of Kundalini yoga and basically ways of opening up chakras [or as timothy leory called them, circuits] i find it interesting that so many different cultures over differing ideas and technology also come to this idea of energy centers along the spine. even carlos castaneda's teachings of don juan talk of "the will" coming from below the belly button, the same place as the dan tian of qigong/chinese yoga and the third chakra all of which correspond to ego/willpower

interesting to say the least

like, just before turfing out, people who you can absolutely tell have the exact same communication issues in real life are always like "This is the MEANEST BOARD ONLINE, I don't get this SNARKY NTERNET CULTURE" but like....go look at any other messageboard. This place is the most milquetoast, no-stakes, lackadaisically-policed, let's-be-online-pals-fest on the entire internet.

i've never been to any other message board.
hell i didn't even start watching youtube until two tears ago

i admit to trolling the person. that was a bit.
i didn't realize that was a newbie though, and i thought 'mainsplanning was something else too
wittgenstein would have a field day with this.

but it was the bit implying that i flippantly wouldn't consider another person's race and am naive of that kind of experience
I do nothing but practice objectivity and logic. socially awkard here , same in real life.
that statement is not anything to do with my troll statement and take that away, which was a bit of fishing, and whats left was before the new guy post i was writing about satire and you responded with that i take no care of, or rather, you easily imply, that I wouldn't take that seriously. i love writing essays, and real intellectual critical thinking is something i actually want to do like i want to fuck or need to play a guitar. i am craving it. i have no real friends to discuss things. i have never tried nor been a member of any of message board. i came upon it when i discovered diy ethics [ethics is something i am particularly passionate about] and frankly, to make that kind of righteousness and undermining, I had to my stand/point. and if hadn't been jest, which i came to check just in case i was wrong [i can be wrong quite often]
i wouldn't have come back because while it may be vain and stupid, that is something i felt like fighting for.
i thank you for the experience

let me just see if i have this right

blackface can be important and necessary envelope-pushing, but you "don't think our species will last" after a joke about being banned from a messageboard

i am finding it difficult not to go back to drugs, get numb, and not care because it seems to hard to find anyone willing to listen and follow the socratic method. I didn't say blackface was envelope pushing nor import, I made a correlation between their use of it as satire and the purpose of satire. I then was questioning these things. You are misrepresenting my questioning and position.

THe "species ...last..." if you re-read was about ideology and dogmatism, not satire. perhaps the fault is mine through syntax in that the first sentence of that paragraph was about how you were demeaning my questioning and analysis, the micro event as it were, while the following sentences were broad, that if this all  there is to people, macro, then it will lead to an eventual end. bit hyperbolic sure but i wasn't talking about satire at that point so miscommunication on mine or your or both part.

I've looked over and am only 50/50 sure you were joking. THe whole demeaning me part thinks you weren't joking. And now you're demeaning me for not getting your joke. couldn't just say, "just joking, try be less serious" or something on those lines. and making me feel small for not getting your joke even though there isn't much context for it being a joke, in my opinion, is a vain, crappy thing to do.

maybe its this internet culture because i see this everywhere, like its a sadistic outlet for people to unconsciously and more often consciously belittle others.
Please stop demeaning and belittling me. you are better than that. why does it always devolve to this hostility? how do we expect anyone to learn?

i proudly admit my ignorance. thats why question. to better understand. now, if you want to continue to demean me, please do so behind my back as i have derailed this thread far worse than ryan did for which I berated and demeaned him [which i later admitted to, though i will now apologize cause it doesn't feel good, i could have explained my newly sober situation and asked nicely and for that I am wrong and fail ethically. but I will to be better]

also my response to the blackface thing would be that as a white guy who's gotten to treat whatever I want as a joke with zero negative repercussions for my entire life, it's easy for me to make the call that it's clearly satire and punching up

but part of being a decent human is a willingness to honestly hear out people who disagree and at least be like "OK fair enough" instead of "NO, it is SATIRE, WHY do you want to CENSOR JOAKS"

i didn't say that. i was speaking from my experience, my opinion, my thoughts, on that in tv. and that you would think so readily I would care not for those things isn't even worth my time to defend, because *you know*

go ahead and ban me. fitting in a punk community for the authority to strike down. dogmatism and ideologies abound, here and there and everywhere. ideas...build and destroy. i don't think our species will last because of it. bye

distasteful mansplainin aside new mr show happens to not be that funny. nothing bigger conceptually than any ol podcast has done already

There appears to be some problems with your logic.
I hope you allow me to help.
I get the impression you speak in absolutes, or at least in quoted statement, the syntax you use equates to one of either (A) the new bob & david show is not that funny objectively or (B) the new bob & david show is not that funny because I believe it that is fact...
Facts can be false. I'm sure you remember that class when you were in school as a kid. I enjoyed it myself.
If your logic is (A) is does not bear up to evidence, as I myself did not perceive that reality. The inconsistency questions the veracity of your fact
If your logic is (B) then I would assume, but never claim to know, that you ascribe to relativism, certainly of the cultural niche and perhaps too of the moral? That is an induction that could be wrong however. Being one of cultural relativism means you must have mistakenly wrote your statement without considering the agency of others' relativism...which makes your statement quite a failure....
unless of course you intended to take that agency from me, which might explain the somewhat confrontational, troll-ish diction surrounding a fact that is becoming more and more inconsistent that the only current implication, considering intention to deny my agency and relativism, would mean you perhaps consider solipsism as the most consistent aspect of your reality.
As there in no logic necessary in solipsism because it would mean you and only you exist, the need for any systemic and critical understanding would be superfluous to anything other than your own selfish needs and desire.
I could imagine Ayn Rand and you sitting by the trains, sipping tea together.

Perhaps a way around all this is to try a new logic, perhaps anti- Aristotelian logic where competition isn't necessary, perhaps? Allow me, please, and for your pleasure, to rewrite your fact to a more consistent one with the present reality that I think we both exist [but truly the possibility of our existing in differing dimension is certainly a possible, if not highly improbably, end result]

the rewrite: 'While I personally feel your post was distasteful mansplainin, I don't have the time to examine the reasons why, but it seems like the new mr show happens to not be that funny. nothing bigger conceptually than any ol podcasts that I have heard and I persoanlly think have already gone after such endgoals of satire in their comedy, but not knowing what you have heard and how you have no knowledge of mine, I guess we are both right when analyzed from our respective perspectives. '

Now if you meant what I just re-wrote and I misinterpreted it, apologies. I am simply acting on the little I know and thought I could help you refine the meaning behind your statement of fact, which I found upon evidence to be quite a false statement.

Hope you are having an awesome day amig@

i'm not exactly qualified to speak to this, but the piece does seem to be very obviously satire and the butt of the joke is by no means black people, the butt of the joke is the type of idiot willing to wear black face, and the police response to him as a white guy vs him as a black guy.

but this is the first i'm hearing about it, so there's probably some more qualified people who are taking this differently. from my perspective the satire couldn't be more obvious, unless you put a flashing "SATIRE" marquee on the screen.

so somehow i missed that mr. show got reincarnated
just saw that episode
i didn't think it was offensive in the least. While not their best satire skit, it makes a point that most of us are aware of with an easy joke while making fun the way jer described.
some of this i think is a lot more satire and scathing at that, than mr.show
anyone who would take offense of this i suspect would also take offense to "A Modest Proposal" but just as a modest proposal makes you feel uncomfortable, i think thats the point
not saying the skit was = to Swift's satire, but that satire strives to border that offensive, kinda sick but you understand its not promoting the process within the art
arguably i find there are many other, better, and uncomfortable stuff than that particular one.

Forgot about all the blackface in The Mighty Boosh and i'm not sure it fits since few actors play so many differing characters [noel fielding has an african american new york cop that he plays in his 'luxury comedy'
but he also plays over a dozen characters, many of which are inanimate objects, many of differing accents and stereotype ethnic characteristics. Its more an aspect of the surrealism than anything like the early  american vaudeville blackface.

i mean, was eddie murphy's white face, one of the greatest comedy skits in history, also bordering that? fuck yea it was, which is what made it an iconic moment in sketch comedy/ SNL

I watch nearly nothing but British comedy and have no seen black face, although I have heard references to it in some. ANd that one time on mtichell and webb where david mitchell does blackface off set and rob tells him its racist as fuck. will post below if i can find it.

HOLY SHIT MASTER OF NONE IS AMAZING! Aziz Ansari is nailing it. Each episode feels like a short indie film with musical and style reminiscent of early Tarantino and Wes anderson. its soooooo good! and I honestly never cared for parks and recs or his character in it. But I enjoyed his standup which the shows plays to I think. I'd say its equal or even better than Louis

Lexapro after a week and i went from thinking about suicide 24+ times a day to one or two times half a week. didn't make me feel worse. didn't even realize it was working until i finally reazlised i wasn't pacing around the room thinking about dying. the problem with doctors' and everyone really, is there own private dogmas. individuals are as such and have individual reactions to things. the doctor's dismal of lexapro is just as much quackery as the other doctor. they are both stupid fucks

Spawn deserves a re-make. I remember enjoying the film as a teen in the 90s, but I recently tried to watch it and Tank Girl and just couldn't get through them at all

I like Jared Leto as an actor and think he will do Joker justice, albeit the joker Hot Topic thing is just wrong. poor design choice. hope leto can over-come it

I don't like will smith as deadshot cause i don't think he's a great actor, suspect they will weave the film around him, and it'll be superhero "I AM LEGEND" will smith. If i hadn't read the book I am Legend I might have enjoyed the movie more, but I don't know. I hope he pulls it off and proves me wrong

This season is excellent. One of my favorites. They addressed every complaint I had last season. I'm so happy at how hard they're killing it.

what complaints did you have? I feel this season is better too but can't quite pin my finger on why, except the building of new doctor's character is already accomplished.
Man I love how the Missy/Master character, also a great actress from excellent British comedies such as Book Group and Greenwing [if you haven't seen Greenwing, watch it now!!]
the going back to Doctor/master friendship as oldest and best friends, missy doing evil as a present rather than just trying to kill him as the last master, it creates a tension and chemistry that is just wonderful. I like how they are taking Clara but it saddens me. Its Doctor/Donna all over again, except i suspect this one to end ever sadder. ....the way they built her up from last season where she multiple times acts as the doctor when he is indisposed, then this season her lack of fear and the doctor saying there doesn't need to be another him on the Tardis...and finally referencing Captain Jack in most recent episode and kinda bringing back the philosophy of the doctor and his leaving people behind/consequences...

its gonna be a great season. Calpadi is still my all time favorite from the moment he stepped out of the blue box. I knew he would pull it off, glad he isn't the Malcolmb Tucker of The Thick of It doctor, which i originally wanted to be honest.

and i was talking about television. how it was enjoyable to have. You're right about the internet being all one needs. I don't have that. Whenever I post here it's on a workforce 1 computer for the most part, library sometimes. but i digress, it's about tv not me, right?
I'm upset I won't be able to watch Season Two of the Knick. American Horror Story was pretty cool. It's also nice when i can't go to sleep to just have a random channel playing. i've always found white noise soothing

i was mean but no apologies if you can't understand how someone in recovery and sober doesn't want to read about those things when clicking on a tv thread. Perhaps a trigger warning would be warranted. but enough of that, you can PM me if you wish to discuss it further.

FOR BRETT:

How about this season of Rectify!? Oh man, its so amazing, nearly a perfect show in its acting, philosophy, writing, and didactic art. Have you heard of the Memphis 3? I have looked and looked and can't find anywhere where Recitfy is referenced to have used the main kid from that case as an influence but check out this clip below and tell me that with the southern attitudes, the witch hunt, the putting away of what may be an innocent due to pressure from political realm, i mean i think its pretty obvious, not that its copying or that Rectify couldn't have been thought up without it but after watching this and another clip before I knew it i thought, "this would make a good movie" then realized it has pretty much been a tv show on rectify. thoughts?

i did all these with Fruity Loops 3.0 (i think its up to 12 now). I bought the producer edition and worked really hard to create this to sound somewhat organic, meaning less looped based. One song the main loop is 16 measures long before repeated. when i went to my first diy show was going to see cheap girls, whom I had heard of and thought was alright but was more interested in the two opening acts that Dakota had booked. Jebediah Springfield was great but the The Sidekicks blew my mind and was definitely the high point of the show for me. Never listened to Cheap Girls again, The Sidekicks is one of my favorite bands. As well as Places to Hide who also played. I'm not sure these even count as opening acts, while Cheap Girls was the more well-known band, Wonderroot always bills their events collaboratively, as a show that includes bands X and Y and so forth. Or maybe that was just Dakota's influence on the place, but whenever he puts a show together, there really isn't a main act and opening act. But at that time, a few people I talked with between sets were all their for Cheap Girls and I was like 'really?' cause Places to Hide i think was the original thing that got me to go, it being a local band and featuring friends and members of The Wild, the bestest band that beats bitterness before business. i digress a little  but aye, the sidekicks, aye.

hey dude, i ended up not having doubles of the vinyl pix stuff which was why i hadn't mailed you stuff (you said you didn't really care for cds/tapes if i remember right) BUT i have tons of old vhs stuff sitting in a closet, the remnants from most i actually tossed in the work dumpster so i do have some vhs stuff i could send you, things like director commentary remasterd evil dead one and two, dawn of the dead vhs collectors edition, mostly horror films from my old horror buff days

I have pretty much everything you mentioned, but if you have other stuff I'd gladly pay for shipping or even extra if I need the movies!  :)

i totally missed your response, haven't been checking the board as much lately. i went on a summer cleaning binge yesterday and i'll start to put together some pics, i also have tons and tons of books i could also unload, if you like philosophy or sciences

Uh, what?

On an unrelated note, why is Dr. Bloom dressing like Beetlejuice on Hannibal and how the fuck did he get such a sweet cell?  I guess on second thought, it might not be that sweet because I don't remember seeing a bed.

i was making a point about posting in tv thread about how one doesn't watch and then telling an anecdote about a methadone clinic wasn't relevant and spoke more to addiction and the methadone than the point of the thread. there are places to post that.
