I think Peter just moved to LA? Idk, we're friends on facebook and whatnot. He's doing big thangs as an artist.

Last week I met up with an old PIX regular who was visiting Florida. Never would have thought at 16 that I'd still be hanging with people from this message board at 30.

On a positive note, I've mostly gotten control over the symptoms of my multiple diagnoses. I still freak out and have meltdowns every few weeks, but nothing I can't handle. I'm taking grad courses again, working full-time, and most importantly, feel like I'm able to be a better daughter and friend. Meds helped tremendously and I'd be dead without them, but I was able to stop taking one of them a couple weeks ago (with psychiatrist approval). Hooray!

2011-2016 were the worst years of my life mentally and emotionally, and it took 2 years on lots of meds to get to here. I hope that everyone who's posted in this thread over the last few years finds some sort of stability <3.

Do you not want to see them at all, or just not in general social settings? I ask because for me, when I'm going through a hermit phase (which is often), it helps to have one or two friends I trust and feel absolutely comfortable with, and just explain my situation to them and ask if they mind coming over for a little bit or if I can come over, one-on-one. Your friends who know you well will understand that it's nothing personal, you're just going through a rough time and will eventually come back around, but others may not get it. Don't be afraid to tell them anxiety and/or depression is taking control and it'll be awhile before you can work through it. As you can see from this thread, the majority of people deal with anxiety and depression to some degree and are understanding of others' situations.

It's tough feeling unable to socialize for months on end. I don't know your exact situation, but meds plus absolutely forcing myself to just go out into the world (i.e. get a cup of coffee) on a daily basis helped. The forcing yourself to go out is the hardest part, because you don't want to. At all. But with anxiety and depression, meds and self-soothing strategies have to go hand-in-hand with dealing with scenarios that cause you anxiety or keep you home due to depression. I hate it a lot and often don't follow my own advice. But I hope you or someone else might find it helpful.

Clicker training was developed decades ago based on behavior analysis and it rules. It's been used more recently to help athletes such as gymnasts train each other.

Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this. Having your trust so completely violated, there's no easy answer, no clear advice. I hope you're able to figure out what's best for you, your family, and your mental health moving forward.

I recognized one of the women's accounts as being that of an old casual friend. I was skeeved out that Chris was dating, yet again, someone far younger than him, but figured she was an adult, seemed happy, and maybe I was being too uptight. To now find out that he put her through horrible emotional, verbal, and physical abuse is sickening.

I should've risked looking like a prudish busybody. I shouldn't have shut up when people here laughed at me for saying Chris used his influence on young fans to their detriment and his benefit. There are so many people saying they're not surprised, but so few people who felt powerful enough to stand their ground regarding his manipulative behavior. I don't know. I've got a lot of feelings about this.

Awww, congratulations on your beautiful baby!

But also I actually kinda like the name Jera...

Oh, ok, I guess I just hadn't noticed the overuse. For that, I'd nominate "lit".

Other than white people appropriating slang as usual, what's wrong with "woke"? I've only seen it in reference to staying on top of political news, participating in the process, etc., which I think is a pretty good thing if the word is continuing to keep young people interested in politics.

For example, Carrie Nations was mentioned as one of somebody's favorite PiX releases in the other thread.  I never checked that out.  It's long out of print now and so underground that there aren't any used copies of the album online that I can find.  Also, it's not on the PiX bandcamp site to download.  I have no idea how to ever check out that album now.

Just now saw this so I'm super late, but the entire "Be Still" album is on youtube.

I ate like a crate of clementines a day when I was quitting. It kept my hands and mouth busy and I didn't get the flu. The patch also helped.

That's kinda the thing, too... a lot of us are friends on facebook and/or instagram, so it seems a little redundant to post on here.

I'm so glad you quoted me to say nothing about my experiences, but instead took 4 paragraphs to talk about yourself.

QUIT THAT SHIT, BRETT.

But yeah, I've been on meds that are actually working for the past few months and it's made this recent depressive episode way less intense than usual. Still depressed, but only in the "I just want to watch netflix and sleep all day" sense, rather than having suicidal thoughts. Seems kind of odd, but I'm pretty stoked on only being a little depressed.

This whole thing weirded me out. I'd be interested in hearing why Chris wanted to do this, how he felt/feels about the ways it affected individuals who moved there, and what his thoughts are regarding this project having a hint of gentrification.

I was scrolling through this waiting for someone to mention Carrie Nations. That record is solid as fuck.

General / Re: bi-polar/ abilify

Lamictal is a great med, since it has far fewer side effects than other mood stabilizers. All anti-depressants can cause manic episodes, so the goal is for bipolar patients to come off of them. There are a few other short-term drugs to help when your mood stabilizer isn't enough, though. Anti-psychotics like abilify, seroquel, etc. can be used to treat bipolar disorder, but they're not the go-to because of their many side effects.

I'm not sure if this makes sense. I had a few dranks at brunch.

Wellbutrin is known to cause manic episodes in bipolar patients, so if you have a suspicion you have bipolar disorder, looking into a different anti-depressant is advisable. Beyond that, it's expensive, but I'd recommend getting evaluated by a psychiatrist.

Where do you even find those?!
Lapel pins? Instagram. Just search hashtags, like pingame, and @patchgame posts a lot of pins in addition to rad patches.

She's in a new band, Flamingo Shadow. They're pretty interesting.
