I had a baritone ukulele at one point that was super fun to play! I got pretty great at "We Didn't Start The Fire," haha. I had planned to hook it up to be electronic so I could experiment with different sounds, but just never got around to it.

I wish I still had that thing.

What kind of ukulele did you get?

Seeing Defiance, OH when I was still in Asheville plus every time I've seen AJJ play has been surreal.

Most of my favorite PIX-related memories are from this board, though. Everyone I've met has been so wonderful. I was actually just thinking the other day about when Sami visited Asheville and how fun that was. Meeting Lindsey, Dakota, Aaron, and Madeline are also at the top of the list. Everyone here is so great and I love you all. Dumb creepy jerks will never change that.

Also, hey it's been a while.

This is a huge bummer. I found PIX in high school when I really needed it and eventually found this board from it. I totally understand why Chris is shutting it down. Even though I haven't kept up with PIX as much in the past few years, it will always have a place in my heart for shaping me into the person I am today. I'll forever be grateful to Chris for beginning this amazing label and exposing me to ideas and politics and heartfelt music I would not have otherwise been exposed to. I've met some of my most favorite people because of Plan it X.

Seeing some of the PIX bands and singing my heart out to Ghost Mice and Defiance, Ohio at a small coffee shop in Asheville are absolute highlights. That coffee shop is now a fancy vegan restaurant and I can't help but remember those shows every time I've been there.

+/- I got laid off from my shitty job working for a crappy sketchy company a few weeks ago. - because not having an income is tough, unemployment benefits are taking a long time to kick in, the company is dragging its feet on providing me with my last paystubs and a lay off letter so I can prove to social services/unemployment office that I was making money but now am not. + because I'm way less stressed out than I was when I was working for them
+ Started tutoring a high schooler in Algebra I today. Yay little bit of money!
+ I'm going to be the head referee of a roller derby double header this weekend. I'm mostly excited but also nervous.
+ It's cooling down and it's almost FALL!!!!! Yay cooler weather, crisp air, and pretty leaves everywheres
- Pumpkin has crystals in his urine and has been sick and peeing on the carpet. I had to put him on this special food to dissolve the crystals. He isn't super into the food, but my roommate's kitten LOVES it. So I have to keep the kitten away from his food and somehow make him eat it and drink more water. Getting a cat to drink more water is damn near impossible.

That's pretty much how it was.

Oooo yeah, the lime is excellent! I'll have to try the grapefruit one. I like the berry one, too!

I'm not sure how to prevent it, but in the past I've just used scissors to cut the hair and then pulled it out. Some vacuum cleaners allow you to take the roller completely out (I thiiiiiink some Shark vacuums have that capability), which makes it way easier.

I've thought about getting a soda stream, but I'm wary of it.

I drink a lot of La Croix. There's a cherry lime one that is out-of-control delicious! Polar's orange vanilla flavor is delicious as well.

dude how is asheville? i've been getting sooooo homesick lately. please tell me it sucks!

Asheville is the same as it's always been! It's kind of bonkers. The same people all live here (3 hours after I moved back I saw my ex's little brother at Rosetta's. Blah.). The mountains were really pretty this morning because it was rainy and foggy, but not too foggy. Moogfest and Mountain Oasis Festival or whatever aren't things anymore, apparently. Hotels are being built up on every street corner. There's a pinball museum that I've been meaning to check out. Otherwise, not much else to report! I mean, it totally sucks! For real, though, I'm sure Portland is way better. Or at least not as small and awkward.

Courtney, I love that picture! Where was that at? Was there a neat thing that happened in Hampton Roads? Figures something cool would happen after I moved.

I haven't posted in a while, but I'm here to say hooray for the Supreme Court and Dysons are great. I used to sell vacuums and the Shark is pretty comparable to the Dyson. I still want a Dyson, though. My mom has one and it's amazing and I want to steal it from her.

I'm still doing the roller derby referee thang and it's pretty awesome. Every weekend except July 4th from now until mid-August is booked with some kind of derby thing that I get to referee! I have a tournament in West Virginia coming up this weekend that I'm stoked on.

I'm back in Asheville and have been busy staring at mountains and counting my blessings for being amongst them again.

I started making my own facial clay mask and trying to get the perfect blend of essential oils, apple cider vinegar, and clay so that it smells good and is also okay for my skin.

I interviewed for a job at a local kombucha brewery that I'm reallllllllly hoping I get so I can tell my shady-ass company goodbye. Bonus points for getting to be around kombucha for most of the week!

I saw Chappie this weekend! I laughed and cried, and I don't cry often at movies. The Die Antwoord soundtrack was great especially since the folks from the band were in the movie and didn't seem to listen to anything other than their own music. 4/5

It would be my first time going, so maybe that's why it seems so scary and daunting. Thank you both for your words of encouragement. I found a place nearby that seems alright, so I'm just going to take the plunge and make an appointment. I don't really see anything that could go wrong with it. I just need to do it!

Rupaul's Drag Race Season 7 just started! I'm super excited.

Also, this show just popped up on Netflix and I love it. It's co-created by Tina Fey and definitely has the same kind of humor that 30 Rock did:

Aaron! Any time you start to feel sad or lonely or like you want drugs or even if you're happy and want to talk to to someone, don't be afraid to reach out! You have my number!

+ Got accepted into the second of three roller derby tournaments I applied to officiate at! The first one I got accepted into is on the west coast, so I can't go. But this one I can go to! I'm still hoping I'll get into the third I applied for
- I keep almost making an appointment with a therapist and then I convince myself that things won't be so awful when x, y, and z happen when in reality I've been in this slump for a while.
- Almost rage-quit my job last week. It's so tempting to quit. I have monies in my bank account that I can use to live while finding a job, but I was going to use that money to move. I'm not feeling too up to living in this area for much longer.
- Dating is frustrating as HELL. Every time I start dating again I realize why I quit dating.
+/- Thinking about moving back to Asheville. It's closer to my family. I have solid friends there. Also, mountains. It just sucks because the job market is not so great.
+/- I'm going to be staying on the east coast for a while due to family health problems and my dad starting to line up lots of surgeries. I need to be with them.
+ I'm glad my dad is finally getting the surgeries he needs. He needs a new hip and new knees. Seeing him in so much pain and being forced into inactivity because of the pain makes me so sad. He's so stubborn and hates doctors so much that I worried he was never going to fix those problems. So so so glad he's come around. Last time I talked to him I told him I wished I could buy him new knees so he could go hiking again.
+ Going to DC this weekend with one of my ref friends. We're going to have a girly road trip, see awesome museums, and ref a fun scrimmage-a-thon with the league up there with some of my other favorite refs!

The car crash biz frustrated me to no end because of exactly that: It just happened and no one ever talked about it again. Super ridiculous.

Otherwise, fantastic film though I also wanted it to go on a little longer. At the same time, though, I don't know what more they could have done while it still being a great film.

Yay! I'm excited for this. This will definitely keep me on track, too, since I have a bad habit of starting a bajillion books at a time and not making much progress with anything.

I've been meaning to read this as well and just keep passing on it because of the length. I'd be down for having a reading buddy! We can keep each other motivated! 100 pages a month is definitely doable for me.
