The big thing is find an agent. Choose your favorite writers or the ones who write similarly to you and find out who their agents are, go on the agent's site and figure out how to submit (follow directions, don't do weird things to try and stand out) follow up in six weeks, then again in six more.) And go to readings.

Occasional poster here, but first post in a quite awhile.  I wrote a novel that was published this month and Im eager to try and get it out there. This website Largehearted Boy asks people to make soundtracks for their books, and since the book is about self-broadcasting, I chose all youtube covers, many of which are bands I'm confident the folks on this board like (Mischief Brew, AJJ, etc.)

if anyone lives in NY the publisher is doing a reading of all the authors they publish at KGB Bar on Thursday. Even if my book isn't your cup of tea, I think the other authors on Instar are likely to appeal to a lot of the folks here. Thanks for listening.

Does anyone pay attention to Battle Rap?  Aside from the blatant racism/sexism/homophobia that you find in the majority of the hip hop world, it's pretty interesting.

As far as creative lyricism, drama and just some addictive x factor, Battle Rap is just compelling.  As far as I'm concerend the most talented lyricists in hip hop are in the battle world right now. 

To clarify, battling now isnt like 8 Mile, the rounds are anywhere from 2-12 minutes and most of it is pre-written with a bit of freestyle thrown in.  IT's like debate/theater/hip hop.

It's weird because all throughout the movie I was like "I'm not sure there's any way I see myself coming out of this movie liking it/ not taking issue with it"

then it ended and both those things were true.  It was well executed maybe even meaningful in the end?

I'm watching Sushi Girl now and The Woman later.

Hey Guys, new here.

I'm so behind on music. I'm basically making this thread hoping for opinions. There hasn't been much new in the Ghost Mice, Against Me, Defiance Ohio, Wild, etc etc vein as far as I've seen and I haven't heard hardly any new music this year that I like. So recommendations are appreciated.

I'll try and respond better when I get off work re: films being scary. I agree which is why I try and look for other aspects in horror films to like instead.

I totally get you. I don't always need a film to be scary, that's why I made the two lists, it's just sometimes and especially lately, I crave it, it's weird.  Grave Encounters is the scariest I've seen.   

While I enjoy it I feel there have been a lot of horror movies lately that use some kind of horror theme as a metaphor for teen angst or puberty. It's cool but it's becoming a trope I think. 

I've been meaning to watch Snowtown and Deadgirl.

Oh, you know what is great Anna, Jugface!  I really recommend it.  Completely unique.  Also The Last Exorcism from an acting standpoint is incredible.

I've been obsessively watching every post 2000 horror movie for the past few months.  Dunno why, never really watched horror before.  Anyway here's my list.

Also, has anyone watched Marble Hornets? Is it worth watching?
