"Extreme sports", mainly skateboarding was my segway from innocent little cherub to finding about underground culture and passions of my own, etc. However, I respected it all and remember Dave Mirra, (also remember playing Dave Mirra pro bmxer for ps2).
suicide is a sad, sad thing. Especially when children, spouse, family, etc are left in the smoldering wreckage

more sad news.
apparently thats an old article he's been dead for a few years.
I must not spend enough time on the internet.
How the hell is duane peters still alive. He's like pushing sixty, shoots dope and smokes crack then kills it. I like self deprecating skate boarders, in literary and artistic theory. The story of gator, his iconic swirly eyed board I had,.thrashed for.vision street wear but couldnt stay off dope and outta prison
Yeah Jay has been dead since 2014. Hard to grapple with your heroes being terrible people, like Jay making skateboarding what it is today, but also being a hate crime-murder-committing homophobe. http://sports.vice.com/en_us/article/maybe-we-shouldnt-be-so-quick-to-idolize-a-gay-bashing-skateboarder (http://sports.vice.com/en_us/article/maybe-we-shouldnt-be-so-quick-to-idolize-a-gay-bashing-skateboarder)
Maybe this post belongs in the Bowie thread. Sorry to derail. What happened with Dave Mirra is a tragedy.

DP almost had one of his legs amputated from having gangrene in 2010/ 2011 and luckily one of the doctors said "We can't remove his leg! He's The Master of Disaster!" Duane, despite being a legend is also no saint, and is on probation for a domestic violence charge for five years.
Gator rode for Vision before it was called "Vision Street Wear". And what he did is a whole lot worse than some minor drug offense that would warrant the phrase "couldn't stay outta prison."
Now I'm really derailing.
