I know it's practically the same band, minus singers but as far as collected recorded output, ALL is amazing.

if you're a Descendents fan and don't bump ALL and it's because you've never listened to em, check em. if you checked em and don't like em, don't know.

Here's a brief selection of just a few of the numerous gems

Have you dug deep in the ALL catolog? Highly prolific and song for song, I dunno. Give those a listen, if you feel like it, and think it over

Or even just million bucks. That's top shelf song craftsmanship

Incorrect.
It's been objectively proven in laboratories by learned men and women that The Descendents are better than ALL

Having said that, I'd rather listen to Papa Roach than GG Allin

Have you checked some tracks. Worse case scenario you hear amazing music

I would assume both of us have heard ALL.

Everybody says they want a million bucks
But i'd rather have a million days listening to The Descendents instead of ALL.

Yep. If they were on Epitaph in the 90s, I've heard them. They aren't bad, they just always sounded like a generic version of the Descendents and I prefer the name brand. ALL were okay but not as good as the Descendents. I even loved Cool to be You.

cool to be yous great. i've always loved descedents. they're one of my favorite bands. but i just love ALL equally and on certain days more so. but it flucuates. I like to think of it as one long remarkable bands career catologue, the collective descendents/ALL material that i can enjoi!

I really like ALL, specifically the later albums- I think Chad Price has one of the best voices in punk rock.

However, that Descendents movie kind of summed it up when they said that ALL "was the band guilty of not being the Descendents." Perhaps it is not necessarily the most fair way to go about things, but all in all, the Descendents just have better songs and a less-saturated body of work and the charismatic frontman. I lost my marbles when I was able to see them live this summer.

ALL truly is the Malt-O-Meal of punk bands.

okay, perhaps not BEATS descendents but admist heavy opposition i still believe they are as good. i still see it as one band and ALL is just the descendents natural progression.

the malt o meals a good one tho. touche

both bands are formative and classic for me too but honestly their entire catalogs in retrospect are so saturated with "i know what's best for you/why did you friendzone me/you'll regret it" proto-MRA creepiness that a lot of it's hard to enjoy now

sure, a solid chunk of it

but I don't think there's a ton of equivalence between like, Bad Religion using unfortunate slavery metaphors to describe suburban life when they were 15, and Milo continuing to write songs from what legitimately sounds like a stalker's POV into his 40s

jerkemy

this isn't Jerkemy Calls Out The Descendents; both bands were huge for me growing up and Bill Stevenson is probably my favorite drummer

but I mean...dude was 33 when he wrote

Quote

He's a total dick; that's the truth, and you know I'm right.
From everything you say, there's no way he'll ever do you right.

You love a man who treats you wrong.
You think you'll change him, but you're wrong.
He'll use you; then, he'll say, "So long."
After all he's said and all he's done-

I'm the one; I've been here for you all along.
I'm the one whose shoulder you've been cryin' on.

I'm the one who wants you more than anything;
You don't feel the same way-you've made it clear to me,
But I'll stand my ground and maybe
You'll hear what I've been sayin'.

After all I've said and all I've done-

I mean c'mon

jer

I'm not faulting you for calling out the descendants.

I'm saying creepy bro rock is the norm.
