I noticed we didn't have a thread about new music for 2015 and really just wanted to post how much I'm loving the new Strung Out album. If you grew up listening to them, I highly recommend you listen to this. I'm 4 songs in and it's their best album since Twisted By Design. I have always loved Strung Out but their last few albums haven't been too great in my opinion. This one is pretty fucking good. Last year Lagwagon pulled through with their best album in years. Next thing you know, NOFX will make a good album again. Just kidding. That won't happen.

Having said that, I'd rather listen to Papa Roach than GG Allin

Have Mercy/Somos - 7' split
Daisyhead - The smallest light
Powernap - Oreosmith
ANTARCTIGO VESPUCCI - I'm So Tethered

and while not officially released yet the new death cab for cutie, mountain goats, and sufjan stevens are all top notch.

Anna Karina

Apparently I like Young Thug more than I thought I did.

The first 3 tracks on the new Strung Out LP are pretty wild, and I was prepared for it to be one of the best Strung Out LPs ever. I thought it tailed off severely after those opening 3 tracks, which was disappointing. Some pretty weak tracks later on in the record.

American Paradox was the last album I really liked by them. That's a solid record.

BlakeK

I liked the album but agree that there were some weak tracks after starting so strong. I still think it's a pretty great album despite two or so weak tracks. I really liked American Paradox too and that's their last really good album in my opinion. This album was good too and I think it is as good as American Paradox. The main complaint I have with the new one is that some of the songs are a little too much alike which causes it to drag at times.

The new Jeff Rosenstock is really good. I like it better than his last solo album.

BagginSagginBrian

Heard this old style kinda country band with female vocals the other day called First Aid Kit that's really good.

Long shot, but huge favor to ask, if anyone is going to the tigers jaw, somas, lemuria april tour starting tomorrow any of the dates. I really want a copy of somos album on vinyl the tour variant. I'd gladly pay you double whatever it cost, so you'd be helping me out huge and making some extra $$$.

The new Tallest Man On Earth album leaked recently, and I've finally been able to give it a proper listen. Not really as cohesive as his other albums, but some really good tracks. Really underrated musician and one of the few people I've seen live in the past few years.

CrackyMcCrackerson

Stuff I've been jocking hardcore this year so far-

Father John Misty- I Love You, Honeybear
Sufjan Stevens- Carrie & Lowell
The Mountain Goats- Beat the Champ

and then some stuff from last year like Sun Kil Moon's Benji and even some old Pixies from Doolitte.

His stuff can be good bu some of it can be a little disjointed.  I liked The Wild Hunt a lot and I liked a lot of the songs on There's No Leaving Now(that title track destroys me).  I haven't heard the new one but I'll give it a listen.

New Mountain Goats and Sufjan are good to be sure. Pumped on the new Hop Along as well. I've been listening to some iteration of Hop Along for almost a decade and the new album is fantastic.

kaywhyelleee

That new Hop Along. Every day. I got to see them play twice in Brooklyn a week or two ago, and they consistently blow me away with how good they are live. And how nice they all are. Great band.

The new Drug Church EP is pretty sweet.

The new Shinobu album does way more for me than any of their previous releases.

And, diving into stuff I've missed in years prior, I've also been getting into Kevin Devine and Self Defense Family lately.

BlakeK

I didn't think I'd like it but I've been listening to Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly. I didn't care for his first album but I like this one. It's really different and the first rap album by a newer artist that I actually have liked in a long time.

The new Good Riddance and Millencolin are both really inspiring, consistently catchy albums.  The last time I've been genuinely excited about new epifat music in at least a decade.

There's a new Millencolin album? I'll have to check it out. I might check the Good Riddance album out, though I've never been real excited about them even as a teenager. I used to love Millencolin, though. I've been listening to Life on a Plate and Pennybridge Pioneers a lot lately. If you're into epitaph/fat stuff, I highly suggest you check out Lagwagon's newest album, Hang, and Strung Out's new one. The new Strung Out has had staying power that I didn't expect and has been part of my rotation since it came out. The only song that I find myself skipping is Modern Drugs.

this is the best new music i've heard in so long, SUPERCRUSH, a three piece recording project from folks normally in metal/hardcore bands.
dreamy pop with the catchiest hooks and fuzzed out vocals.  only four songs across two 7"s which doesn't help my love for them at all.  this stuff was dreamt up in the 70s and only coming into fruition now, can't stress how much I love.

I don't know if anyone here likes Espers, but Meg Baird released a new solo album last month.

It is good but I like I Look Like Shit better. I feel like I should be listening to more new stuff but I haven't really in a while.

kinda weird how the earth continues to spin on its axis and everything eventually dies even when you don't want it to dang
