General / Worst Month Ever
September 29, 2017, 06:06:19 PM
So September is almost over and I am pretty sure it's the worst month me and my family (specifically members of my household) have ever had.

I won't go into too much detail but my stepdaughter has been having a really tough month and the things she has done and things she is going through have been equally hard on me and her mom.

My daughter's eating has been a source of anxiety for quite a while as she spits up A LOT. We finally got it somewhat under control by buying the more expensive premixed formula but this week she's has fevers off and on and has been fussy. Turns out she has Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease which isn't serious but is stressful in the midst of everything else.

This past Monday we found out my wife has melanoma skin cancer and a rare, very serious form at that. We have to go 3 counties over to find a doctor who specializes in it. We will find out more on Monday.

My wife and stepdaughter are at the ER right now trying to find out why my stepdaughter has had a migraine for 2 days and no energy. This has been the least of her problems this month though.

Addy finally fell asleep after eating and being very fussy and I just had a moment to reflect. We had to replace our dishwasher which was a nightmare and before that we had a leak under the upstairs sink which caused water to drip on our ceiling. The ceiling was a $400, week and a half ordeal. Those last two things are the least of our worries but it has all added up. Oh and TMI but I've had hemorrhoids all month. Yay!

I am worried about my stepdaughter and even more so about my wife. I feel like I am under as much stress as I can handle and I can only imagine how hard this is for my wife. I have to be very positive but I'm actually very scared and worried.

The whole album is on YouTube of course so here's the playlist

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL48dyrcoVa_iBfqel_escMN1BdR5yoUTP

I can't wait until I get a while to actually sit down and enjoy the album

EDIT: I love this album. It's their best since Potemkin City Limits in my opinion. It's at least as good as Supporting Caste though since it's new and shiny, I may just be caught in the moment. It's got the thrash/metal elements but it also has more of a punk feel than Failed States.

General / Re: Help me and my wife watch It?
September 24, 2017, 09:04:48 AM
We watched it using popcorn time. Not the greatest quality but good enough to watch. Definitely liked it but I don't feel like it is THAT much better than the original miniseries. I guess I'd have to go back in time and have 8 year old Blake watch both to be fair because much of the appeal of the original is nostalgia for how I felt when I first watched it. I do think this one is scarier though I liked how they developed characters and their bond in the original. It just seemed like these kids barely knew each other but maybe that's how it is in the book

That's perfect! I have seen Lethal Weapon 1 and 2 probably over 200 times each. My mom loved Mel Gibson when I was a kid (before everyone found out he's a piece of shit) and so I saw a lot of his movies. My favorite was Lethal Weapon 2.

7 Seconds are straight edge too. You took my horrible joke.
Damn, I fucked up that in nearly every way possible. I should have known 7 Seconds are straight edge. Just another reason to have my punk card revoked.

If no one responds within a day or two I'll find this for you. Normally I'd do it quicker, but a little busy sorry :(
I completely understand. If you do get the time it would be much appreciated but if not, we can wait and hopefully find a babysitter next week.

We can't find a sitter and we really want to watch It. All of the torrent sites I used to go to are gone. Can someone please help us watch It? Streaming or torrents are fine.

I used to say the same thing about Minor Threat.

Ya'll are crazy they're perfect
I was just joking/trolling with the Minor Threat comment because ya' know, straight edge. I need to work on my trolling.

Is it weird that I've been listening to a lot of the poppier rock that I used to roll my eyes at as a teenager/college student? All American Rejects are pretty heavy in rotation right now. Maybe I always liked bands like this but supressed the urge to listen due to fears of being ridiculed by the cool punk kids. It kind of sucked because I never quite fit in with the punk crowd but I really wanted to, I just didn't go full regalia like some. I'm not sure why. It's probably the early 90s grunge streak I had and was hanging onto way past the expiration date.

I'm not sure if the victim who first posted the allegations is the same person I'm thinking of in the google doc but one of the victims said that they decided to come forward in large part due to the Trump "grab em" tape. I then wondered that if Trump wouldn't have run for President, would this have come out? It also is really disappointing and crazy to think that Chris essentially did the types of things Trump bragged about having done. It just sucks because it just seems as I get older and interact with people more that there aren't a whole lot of people who don't have a very dark side to them.

I watched The Girl with All the Gifts a couple weeks ago and it was very enjoyable.
Good movie! I liked it too. I called my daughter "the girl with all the gifts" for like 2 weeks just because I'm weird.

and cause all I seem to listen to is emo music these days, the new Brand New album is actually really good.

Yes! I was just going to post that I've been listening to this. It is really good and I'm glad I'm not the only one who appreciates it. I wouldn't classify Brand New as emo. It's hard to categorize them and they are one of my favorite bands. I really love how they've changed pretty significantly with every album but still manage to be great. Not a lot of bands can do that. It's hard to believe this is the same band that put out Your Favorite Weapon which was a guilty pleasure album back when I was younger (as was Deja Entendu but for different reasons due to change in sound).

Also, a classic I didn't appreciate at the time (or felt I wasn't supposed to like) when I was younger:

As far as sad and shitty news one of the guys from dear landlord is up on murder charges after selling dope to someone who overdosed. Supposedly he's the "Chris clavin of heroin" according to people on facebook. Whatever the fuck that means. Pretty sad for him and the victims family
Yeah I don't know what's that means either but that sucks. I read the google document where people have shared their stories and my first thought was that Chris is the Bill Cosby of folk punk.

I wish Kimya Dawson would have said something earlier. I understand that a lot of people are/were scared because of Chris's social status but Dawson became much more well known than Chris as time went on. I know hindsight is 20/20 and all and I'm not wanting to sound critical of her this all just sucks so much. I really wish there would have been an intervention earlier so he could've gotten help earlier but at least he's doing that now (hopefully) and the victims can start working through it now too. I would think having Chris coming to their towns now and then would be a huge trigger previously and it would suck to know that your abuser is still out seemingly unchecked.

I haven't seen it but that's fucked up if someone is talking about her child

Can someone tell Brian Tightpants to come back and we can insult one another? It would be just like old times.

I also still think we should come up with a name for the board; something snappy, full of moxie that the kids will think is "groovy".

I saw an article that had Hannah's response and while I know this must be hard for her, I found it pretty shitty. I don't know if she's revised her stance and should probably research it.

This may be a stupid question but what does "bbs" stand for? If it's just a prefix that got attached automatically we should at least pretend it stands for something cool. Any ideas?

This is really random and sad but anytime I see parentheses (or brackets) around a person's name, it reminds me of how doofuses on the internet have started putting 3 of them around a person's name to identify them as Jewish. Strange times.

Yeah this must be really hard for since you know Chris personally. I would feel betrayed too

Since I never got the full story on Paul B was this all part of the reason he left pix and the Bloomington scene? From comments of his on FB he seems pretty adiment about knowing about all this and having taken a stand several years back, but no one being on his side when he tried to do something about it.

Or are the two things completely unrelated?
I was wondering the exact same thing because he's accusing others of knowing and not saying anything which would mean that he would have known for years as well. Did he ever say anything? Did anyone ever notice that Chris was almost exclusively interested in younger girls? What kind of red flags were there? I need to do some research because I'm behind as far as what's been said and done

Chris (founder of PIX) is getting accused of some pretty serious stuff. Serious enough where Ghost Mice have canceled their tour.

Apparently punks really aren't that much better than anybody else.
I hadn't heard anything but when I saw this I looked and couldn't find any information. Links or details?

EDIT: I had to do a lot of digging and was able to find a Facebook post from the victim. I feel like the story is buried or maybe just hasn't developed to be out there. This sucks.

I'm not! Will she think it's weird if I'm like "I know your husband from the internet. I thought of your child's name. Be my friend so I can see pictures of her?" Haha
She knows where I got the name and I have mentioned you. I told her about the things you were telling us to try at the hospital and she's fine with it. I'm not going to lie, when Amanda first learned about the message board she didn't quite get it and was a little weirded out by me talking to other women online. Once she realized what it actually is though she didn't really view it as the standard "talking to other women on the internet" which is something that I think most spouses are a little freaked out by. Everything is cool though and I can just post more to my account (which I did yesterday). If we lived closer we could all meet. We don't have many friends around here so it would be nice. It's hard to make friends as adults especially when you have kids and are wrapped up in family stuff constantly

Check out the podcast Spare the Rock Spoil the Child! I listen to it with the kids and enjoy it too!

More Adelie pics please!
Her taught me how to post pictures on here but I don't remember how. I know it has to do with Imagur but I mess it up when I try. Are you friends with my wife on Facebook or follow her? She is better about posting pictures than I am but I could post some too.
