General / Help! Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma Tour
July 27, 2014, 06:03:24 AM
Heyo! I'll be touring in August, and still need some help with dates.  If anyone knows of a place to play, a good open mic, or pretty much anything that I should do while I'm there, please lemme know.

I'll be with two other solo acts.  Some shows we'll be doin' that, and some we'll be playing as a band.

August 6th - Austin, TX help!   I'd do a show at my house, but I'll be out by August 1st!
August 7th - San  Marcos, TX Sacred Roots House show
August 8th - San Antonio, TX - Nikki's House
August 9th - Victoria, TX TBA
August 10th-12th - Baton Rouge (TBA), Nola Help!!!
August 13th - Texarcana Help!

We'll also be handing around Oklahoma for a week or so after the 13th.  Shows TBA in Tulsa and Muscogee.  Anyone know of any other good OK spots to hit up?

I stupidly and drunkly didn't get the book, but I saw him play here, and there were no let downs.

I just put in my month's notice at the best job I've had to date: Volunteer Coordinator and Kennel Technician at a small, non-profit, no-kill animal shelter.  Very bitter sweet, and I'm really hoping that sweetness will overcome.  I think it will; at this point, though, I think I'll continue to be an emotional wreck for at least the next month.

Plans for after this:
Tour, meet up with old friends at the Woody fest, record songs.
Finish going to all the states in the US other than Hawaii and Alaska for now. (Basically need to go to Oregon, Washington, and the midwest)
Hike the Appalachian Trail
Work at a Ski Resort

i tried making garlic tostones last night and i just burned the garlic. i know garlic burns easily but i don't see how this works then because you still have to fry up the plantains fuck this

i also made rice and beans, which involved me finally just making sofrito
i have enough for a year now and i didnt have/couldnt find any culantro

Try making a garlic/olive oil/lime mix to drizzle on top of the tostones.  Delicious, easy, no burnt garlic.  Or if you have time, mofongo is the way to go for garlicy-plantain goodness!  How did you make your sofrito?  I haven't experimented with mine in a while

Right now I'm making some Baba Ganoush, yum!  I will let you know how it turns out.  The eggplant slices are currently draining in a collindar.

Side fact, I saw talk of bread:
My favorite toast is that Food For Life shit.  The Sesame kind to be exact.  I definitely can't always afford it, but I fucking love that stuff.  Goes great with sauteed kale/onions/garlic scrambled into a fresh egg. Best brunch ever.  Always keeps me going for a long day of working out in the sun.

- Record more often, including a new demo to take out this summer.
- Woody Guthrie Festival to meet an old friend, and of course have fun.
- Tour in August.  This will be after I leave my job (this is the hardest time I have EVER had parting ways with a job.)
- Hitching to the states I haven't been to yet.
- I may try my hand at the Appalachian Trail for a few months

Wow rory... This is pretty great noise rock. My friend Chris is going to love this also.

- Joe, will listen later.

- moreaboutwhozackis, sounds cool. had to turn audio way up though.

- Nate Rainey, that is pretty frigging punk rock!

- Hatefvkk, very metal  ;)

here is a shitty song I have been working on for a short 10 minute album of 8 songs. the end is still a bit messy but i kinda like it so I'm not sure if i should keep the changes I am making. - http://wedidthisrecords.tumblr.com/post/88466527775/demo-mix-of-a-song-from-the-new-album
