Never thought i'd be listening (voluntarily. My dad was a dead head. that's the reason, he subliminally planted something in me on our long road trips upstate to hike) to the "dead".. but this song is pretty awesome.

I always thought listening to the shaggs was an exercise in masochism and was something just to be done to say you did it, and have the album but this song is really cool..

this is a tough one to list as a "shitty band" because the good stuff is so good it should negate the shit, but i'll throw it in anyway because if you haven't heard this side of the GOO GOO DOLLS, check it.. the best parts of the descedents, replacements, old lemonheads

The good rats were a long island bar band that opened for huge bands, KISS, black sabbath, tons but never made it. They still play just as hard, have always worked jobs and tour and record on the reg

I like a lot of grateful dead songs actually, haha
I like Brand New and owned a Boy Named Goo growing up. Brand New get lumped in with a bunch of garbage but I think they're better than their contemporaries like Taking Back Sunday (I would post a video of one of their songs in this thread as I have liked at least one of their songs but can't think of it). I could post in this thread for days and be ridiculed.
It turns out I was thinking about a song by a former member of Taking Back Sunday or side project or something or other.

Ha, "Touch of Grey" is catchy and I like it but I think that might be one of the more unpopular songs in the deadhead community. If you have facebook then look at this meme I saw going around today:

Grateful Dead are good sometimes. Depends on the album. Better than Phish!
Ween is sweet sometimes too. "Ocean Man" is a goddamn treasure.
I never cared for Brand New's music but after joining a forum about record collecting and reading literally thousands of posts about "why wont they repress Deja and Devil and God? They r teh best evar and i dont have $700 for a used copy :((((" I can't stand them on principal.
One of the users did this and posted it on the site. The forum almost broke.

I bet it was martin shkreli
well my thing with the grateful dead are the songs, the straight songs are super catchy and way up there in songwriting and whatnot.. it's the fucking endless noodling between and fans and assholes and bumper stickers i can't stand.
and was preconditioned as a young punk to hate them. i'm trying to expand my musical palate.

I definitely get that. The only folks allowed to endlessly noodle without it being annoying are jazz musicians. I can't even listen to Led Zep for that reason.
