Title: Plan-it-xesque recommendations
Post by: manmagic on February 09, 2015, 07:33:35 AM
So I know half of the people, if not most of the people here don't listen to folk-punk or even punk in general anymore, but let's act like that isn't the case for a second. Can I get some recommendations of people who have been bringing a fresh approach to the genre or at least someone who is doing it well that most people may not have heard of or even may have heard of, hell I'm pretty out of the loop. If I wasn't I wouldn't be making this thread.

Jer knows what's up. The Front Bottoms are one of my favorite bands of recent years.

Having hard time of thinking of bands that you probably hadn't already heard (such as joyce manor, lemuria, latterman, etc)

PS Eliot is one of my favorite pix type, kinda similar to the wild in that its more alt. rock 90s ish than punk
the werewolves (from GA as well) : https://werewolves.bandcamp.com/
Radiator Hospital : https://radiatorhospital.bandcamp.com/
The Sidekicks (just released new album) : https://sidekicksohio.bandcamp.com/
Places to Hide (atlanta local awesome): https://placestohide.bandcamp.com/album/almost-nothing
Walter Mitty and his Makeshift Orchestra: (this is my favorite ep) : https://makingnewenemies.bandcamp.com/album/clich-definitions-of-success
Driveway (split with Loud? is great and my intro to them) : https://driveway.bandcamp.com/

and because Soophie nun squad is the best band of all time, here's a link to harlan recommends, which has tons of stuff put out by nate from SNS and while maybe not pix-esque, is certainly DIY
